Pros: High contrast levels - Does not have a large footprint Cons: Price is still considered high
Right out of the box this set is ready to amaze. When I first pulled this unit out of the box, I immediately realized just how well this unit was designed. There is hardly a body to this machine, as well as the fact that it barely weighs enough to be ...
Background These Samsung TVs use a technology from Texas Instruments called "Digital Light Processor" or DLP. A DLP is a chip with tiny movable mirrors - one mirror per pixel - that move to turn each pixel on or off and create the image. In ...
Pros: Really nice picture, cheaper than plasma, lightweight and easy to move around. Cons: Audio probs with DVD's but that may not be the tv's fault.
When we were looking for a new tv, a friend of ours told us about Samsung and DLP. It was cheaper than Plasma and almost as good picture wise. Well, our friend didn't lie. It comes almost ready to use right out of the box and it weighs alot less than ...
Pros: Great HDTV pictures. Good sound with BBE turned ON. Cons: Some rainbow effect, muddy dark scenes
I'm an engineer and tend to see every flaw in a TV. With that said, I really enjoy this TV with HD shows. The contrast, color, brightness and sharpness are great. There are some flaws that may bother you but should not in most cases. First let me tell ...
what's a tv without a picture? by jkanders06 ,Jul 13 '05
Pros: great picture in hd Cons: the lamp failed twice in one year!
i bought this lcd panel tv one year ago thinking i was getting the best of the group...boy was i wrong. after one year of ownership and not a lot of tv viewing, i am sitting here without a picture (failed lamp) for the second time. the first lamp failure happened at six months...tried to turn on the tv but no picture. it took samsung two weeks to get someone out her to fix it. they fixed it at no cost as it was under warranty but it was a pain in the a*@.
this past sunday i was watching hbo and in the middle of entourage, the lamp failed again! luckily i have an extended warranty through warrantech but it doesn't help me when i come home after work and can't watch tv. and to think that i wavered between the sony wega and this samsung...learned my lesson.
Pros: Stunning picture, lots of inputs, light weight Cons: Remote is less than ideal
After much viewing of plasma, LCD, large projection TVs, etc we settled on the Samsung DLP because of it's stunning picture. Read the reviews for the HLN4365W for details (I agree with all that is said).
We were going to go with a Panasonc plasma, but got worried about the altitude problems and possibly shortened life (we're at 6,000 ft). Samsung was a wonderful (and cheaper) alternative.
Stunning picture even in a bright room, antiglare screen works well, lots of variety on inputs, plays well with other units.
Samsung remote has a very narrow transmitted beam and its buttons are not well designed, too big. This is the only significant flaw in this very well done unit.

Pros: Picture quality, set up, small footprint and multiple inputs. Cons: remote is a little "cheap"
Finally DLP that is affordable to the common man!
Most DLP's are projectors for home theaters. I LOVE THIS TV! It is definitely worth the extra money. The picture quality is better than what I have seen in LCD or plasma. In a room with windows (like most living rooms) it is great with the glare. I agree with most that the remote is a little "cheap" for a TV of this price but I just replace it with an all in one remote for my system.
The TV is extremely easy to set up and has more inputs than you know what to do with. Great for those multiple receiver junkies like me. I recommend using a large
S-video input like monster cable and the same as well for the audio.
I use this TV with satellite and could not be happier. I recommend that you save or invest a little extra money and upgrade to this TV instead of any others. Or you can spend a more on other stuff instead of plasma or LCD.

Pros: Great image quality from DVDs in wide-screen mode. Cons: Very Poor Reliability! Not impressive service/support.
I've had this unit for 6 months, and already have 2 problems (which have yet to be resolved).
So, I believe the product was released before its time.
My unit developed a stripe on one edge of the picture area, when playing 3:4 aspect images, broadcast or video. It does not appear in wide-screen mode.
And then - after only 6 months - the unit started SQUEALING like a high-pitched CHAINSAW at boot-up, and later randomly during use.
My $300 normal TV worked for 10 years without a problem. Now, for $3000, I get only 6 months! That's ridiculous!
And I've called the service department 3 times without any real person ever picking up the phone!
If you're considering purchase of this, I would wait. There's other technologies coming that look better, or get this after the bugs are worked out.
Took some time, but my oh my! by jerdubois ,Mar 02 '04
Pros: Weight, Size, Quality, Flexibility Cons: Takes some training ...
Well, I purchased the TV a month ago. At first glance, the picture was disappointing in high-color situations. After extensive reading and studying of the avsforum.com, I finally figured out the tweak required - just like your old TV sets - turn the COLOR WAY DOWN! Since then, I've had HDTV put in (on DVI) and man, I am styling. Nearly done tuning and tweaking and can now sit down and enjoy it anytime! I am continually amazed by the clarity of most newer DVDs and HDTV.
Pros: Great picture. Nice video input selection. Size is perfect for our great room. Cons: Look over the reviews and you will see an early and repeated repair pattern.
Broke in less than a month of use. Waiting for 3 days to contact samsung repair. Waiting for an hour today on hold.
