Pros: Excellent display quality, perfect for most HD sources Cons: Voice sync problem on non-HD digital cable broadcasts
The search for a new TV started when I moved into a new apartment with limited space for a conventional projection TV. After examining various options, it appeared that the best placement for a projection TV was literally in front of the fireplace ...
Pros: Bright and clear picture, no burn-in issues like the plasma, light weight, beautiful chassis Cons: minor rainbow effects, expensive replacement bulb, complex menu, stability issues, costly wires for HD display
Shopping for HDTV's is a complex process. The last time I bought a tube TV (2.5 years ago), it wasn't this complicated, but I guess as technology progresses, things change. I didn't *need* a new TV but with the upcoming football season and the release ...
Pros: Bright picture, excellent quality, no burn-in. Cons: HDTV ready only, need expensive cables to get the best picture.
Purchasing a new television these days can be pretty intimidating, especially with the dawn of HDTV and the different sets available (i.e. CRT, DLP, LCOS, plasma, projection, etc). I narrowed my choices down to DLP and Plasma. But, for my current needs, ...
Pros: Great picture (when it works), nice compact design Cons: Repeatedly requires replacement of light engine and poor customer service.
My husband and I were very excited when we brought this TV home. We upgraded from a 20" and were really looking forward to a much more enjoyable movie watching experience with this new unit. At first, everything seemed great. The picture was fantastic ...
Pros: The absolute best picture I've seen. Cons: The voice lag and the almost constant whine from the rear.
I shopped for a TV for near 6 months. I was having my house built so I was in no hurry. I couldn't afford a 8000$ plasma and didn't like that once this picture is out on a plasma then you are just supposed to chunk it. I had heard that the DLP was the ...
Pros: Great picture, versatile connectivity Cons: Lack of overscan compensation at 1080i, cannot disable analog tuner
When we first took delivery, the unit we got had a broken mirror inside (must have gotten knocked hard in transit), so we took it back and got a replacement. The replacement had the infamous water spot issue and made a serious whining noise from the ...
Pros: Great HD picture, lightweight, thin profile, 3rd generation, speaker on bottom Cons: major lamp problems, non-intuitive remote, rear "front panel inputs, no digital audio out
After reviewing online for a couple of weeks and a few trips to my local BestBuy to compare I decided on this Samsung 5063 DLP. Plasma is too pricey and has too short of a lifespan. Standard rear proj. hd are too massive. I thought the DLP's had ...
Pros: not much to break. DLP bulbs are about the only thing that will fail. Cons: very poor picture for the price.
I've been shopping for a new TV for my home theater for about a year or so now. I've done my research about the technologies that are out there; LCD, Plasma, DLP, LCoS and the like. I decided that the time was right to purchase the Samsung DLP 50" ...
DLP Light Burn out problems by x1lightning ,Feb 05 '07
Pros: Beautiful picture Cons: Poor fan quality; light bulb burns out within months
One and one half months after purchasing the Samsung 50" DLP television the picture began going out and the temperature light would go on. Once the set cooled, the picture would reappear. I called Samsung and they sent out a technician to replace the bulb. The technician told us that the bulb would burn out again because the fan that cools the bulb was not large or powerful enough to keep the bulb cool. Upon hearing this, I went down to Radio Shack and purchased a small computer cooling fan and placed it at the vent in the rear of the set. Eighteen months later we still have a running television. No problems since.
Pros: Great picture Cons: TERRIBLE customer service.
I bought this TV, because of the superior picture, it WAS absolutely wonderful. Great picture and pretty nice sound. Only 8 months after warranty is out, it now needs a DMD board, and something else, almost 1500.00 in parts and labor. I can buy a new one cheaper. Samsung "customer service" was NO help.
Pros: Size and price compared to plasma Cons: Some sacrifices in picture quality I couldn't get over
We purchased this TV at Costco At first I was very pleased with the picture and sound.
But after a few days I noticed that if you moved to one side or the other the picture would go black.
And anything white would have black lines flickering through it.
Thats the great thing about buying at Costco. I returned it with no problems.
I think I'll wait and get a plasma
Pros: picture, sound, very light (weight), jacks on the side of the unit. Cons: none at this time
I bought this TV about 2 months ago. It gets an excellent picture. So far I have not had any problems with it. The contrast is very good. The color is great. The picture is nice and bright. It is almost like being in a movie theater. The speakers are quite good also.
Pros: Great looking picture in a beautiful package - nicely sized. Cons: High frequency hum begins after 30 minutes of viewing. Will drive you batty.
On my 3rd version of this t.v. Beautiful picture. 1st t.v. had problems turning on - lamps wouldn't fire up. Best Buy replaced quickly, but replacement had an annoying, high frequency hum that began about 30 - 45 minutes after turning the t.v. on. I suspected that the hum (whine) was coming from the cooling fan. Best Buy quickly replaced the t.v. The delivery team commented that they had "picked up" a couple of the Samsungs for a "humming" issue. T.V. #3 is also humming. I am now going to exchange the t.v. for a different brand.
Pros: Great Picture, lightweight, has a nice look Cons: The technology is flawed and the customer service is terrible.
As a Samsung fan, I am truly disappointed with the product. After 5 months of ownership, I've had the light engine, the digital and analog boards replaced. Not to mention Samsung's horrible customer service.
Pros: Excellent picture, beautiful cabinet, Samsung's the leader Cons: Somehow I wish I could adjust the tint just a notch
I got rid of a 3 year old 55" mitsubishi for this one and I couldn't be happier. Great picture lightweight, and as others have posted really no loud hum. The dlp technology is so much better then the standard hd tv's. couldn't be happier, and I got it for $2899.00.
