Samsung ownage
by underpants1 ,Jan 12 '05
Pros: Brilliant color, sharp imagery, aspect ratio is fairly dialed. Cons: Still suffers from the projection screen darkness at angles, slight artifacting and image stretching
Gorgeous picture, color and loaded with crazy features. The sound is surprisingly good, as well. Like all projections, there IS a sweet spot, though it's splash zone is bigger than conventional non-dlp TV's.
There is slight artifacting during non-hd broadcast, along with making everyone look Rosie O'Donell-ish.
A couple of tips: take great pains--and by great pains I mean hire an engineer from Ball Aerospace to help construct a shelf if necessary--to be absolutely certain the unit sits on level with (roughly) your mid shin to lap. The increase in vivid imagery will guarantee at least one scared fart or maybe even a pants-wetting from grandpa's corner of the room during a startling movie.
All things considered, it's a good unit.

Excellent quality
by srrmaui ,May 23 '08
Pros: Great picture, exceptional sound system, split screen, and picture in picture Cons: Screen gets washed out in light room, bulb life is too short.
When viewing this unit in HD broadcast the quality is exceptional, not as good but adequate in standard. Loaded with quality features, would have liked a backlit remote control, but now with my DVR I rarely use it anyway. I have had this set for 3 years and now the bulb has burned out. Not a problem in that the act of replacement is simple and fast but Samsung feels like raping their customers for a minimum of $150 plus shipping and handling for a bulb that should cost $49.95. For this reason I will not buy another Samsung product.
