Pros: Large bright screen, pretty good PDA functionality, syncs well with Outlook Cons: Horrible phone functionality, very large, issues with hardware buttons
The idea behind creating a phone and PDA combination device was that a person could carry only one device. But if your only cell phone thinks it's only a PDA, you've got trouble. Why I Got It When my Samsung SCH-I600 stopped working, I called ...
Pros: Easy to use. Cons: Price, SMS counter (fixed with OS upgrade)
Phone or PDA? How about both? by mwildey, Apr 21 '04 When I was looking to get a phone/PDA combo, I was looking at the Kyocera 7135, but ended up with this, and am glad I did. I've had this device for almost a year now, and have had very few problems ...
Pros: Built-in camera, call from your contact Cons: Verizon's plan is confusing and expensive
If you are looking for reasonably good Pocket PC Phone, this will be good one to consider. This phone is serviced by Verizon who has good coverage in rural area. Their internet service has reasonable speed compared to T-Mobile service. I pay $55 for ...
Pros: Bright screen, speakerphone, voice dial recognition, 4 modes of "writing" and recognition, PC/modem functionality Cons: Somwhat bulky, camera average, COMPARE with version that has 2003 CE (free)
This phone has a killer screen - clear and bright. It has some things you may rarely use (MS Word and Excel - not really useful on a PDA). But it has some other great functions like the speaker phone (press the handset send signal AFTER the call has ...
Pros: All things in one, converged. Cons: All things in one, converged - lost when broken.
I have carried a PDA (windows based) for 4 years. A cellphone for 10 years (since I was 13. Both are necessary, unfortunately. Well, I say I have carried a PDA for 4 years. In reality, I have owned one for 4 years, and carry it only when I travel. ...
Pros: Good speed
Stable
Very rarely drops calls
Good screen readability, even at lower screen brightnesses Cons: No Bluetooth (Next model has it)
Case it comes with stinks
Poor choices for keyboards
A couple points:
1) Pocket PC 2003 is now available from Verizon
2) Contrary to a previous review, it does have both speaker phone and a color calculator.
3) The extended batter IS a little heavy, but I can go 2 days without charging it. The normal battery still lasts a day with ease.
4) In Southern CA, the data speeds are EXCELLENT
There is a new model, the i730, that appears to have everything I wish this one had: sliding thumbboard, Bluetooth, and (I think) 802.11b
So much money for NOTHING?! by bact3r1a ,Jun 05 '04
Pros: Nothing at all in this Samsung SPH-i700 except the Stylus Cons: Out-of-Date software
NO SPEAKERPHONE
Camera takes UGLY pictures
Heavy with Extended Battery and Holster [12.2oz]!
First of all people... this phone does not have a color calculator, Internet Explorer does not work and it's not supported by Yahoo.com which prevents you from accessing your E-Mail and for the amount of more than $700, it's a pile of junk. Samsung, Microsoft and Verizon are all in this worthless scam together; as a matter of fact, they claim that Verizon have Pocket PC 2003 software update but instead of updating software, they send out the same garbage replacement phones with Pocket PC 2002 on them. PEOPLE! IT'S YEAR 2004 ALREADY!!! So get with the program and make the right choice; Kyocera 7135 which runs on PalmOS 4.1 and its fast, stable and the least but not all compatible with almost all internet web sites.
Great combination of Computer and Phone by motilm ,Sep 02 '05
Pros: Large display, Camera, Sync Outlook, Word, Excel, play AVIs, MP3s, MPGs, Internet, Download Apps. Cons: Slow Internet access unless you upgrade service.
I've had this PDA/Phone for 4 years and still love it. It's large for a phone but that's so you can see the display when you're surfing the net or using one of the thousands of applications available for it. The Internet speed is slow (14.4K) unless you get the upgraded service that is around 128K. Of course it has to be rebooted every once in awhile, it's Windows after all. The speech recognition software works well if you can duplicate the environment that it learns your voice in... program it in the house, can't use it in the car. Handwriting recognition works if you write legibly otherwise forget it. There is a newer version available with a qwerty thumboard but the screen is too small. If you turn off the PDA you don't have accidental phone calls when you bump the screen and the phone still works perfectly.
Pros: Heavy enough to use for self defense Cons: See above
I have had this phone for 15 months and I hate it. It took me 2 months to find a holster, and I never did find a good set of headphones for the thing. (No bluetooth)
It is hard to dial without the stylus, the voice recognition is pretty good, but that means that you get wrong number only 2 out 10 times. Verizon often has issues without out of town connectivity, which is why I got the darn thing in the first place.
Last but not least...Windows has no place on a phone. Thi sbeast locks up 2 or 3 times a week
Pros: I like the way it looks, color screen, it uses windows. Cons: Don't like numbers on screen & open PDA's too easy to bump.
I have had this phone for about a month now. There is so much to learn about it. I had it connected to the internet but it was extremely slow and I couldn't get it to do what I wanted it to so I disconnected it. The reason I titled this review possessed is that it has on several occasions phoned the last person I spoke with seemingly on its own. I will hear someone saying hello and answer the phone and they say I called. My previous phone was a Kyocera clam PDA which I loved. If you bump this one and the talk button is pressed, it will place a call. One of my friends had 6 calls from me which I never placed (at least not intentionally). There is probably a way to turn this feature off without turning the phone off but I haven't discovered it yet.
