Pros: Compact design and crisp vivid picture
    Cons: none

Cons: none that i can see

Summary: I use the samsung syncmaster as an external monitor when im working on my macbook. Although the mac display is bright enough and easy on the eyes, i prefer to do work and watch movies on this monitor because the colors are much more vibrant and crisp. ...

  • Samsung SyncMaster 712N. Crisp, bright picture keeps you coming back for more.

    Oct 07 '05
    Pros: Bright, crisp picture
Cons: Makes other monitors look dim or fuzzy.

Summary: I purchased the Samsung SyncMaster 712N in January of 2005 and have now had it for just over eight months. I was shopping for a complete computer system and decided after some significant research that the Samsung 712N was the monitor that I wanted. I ...

  • Very Good LCD

    Jul 22 '05
Pros: Very sharp, very good colors, very good brightness, good response time
Cons: Controls are hard to distinguish from casing, some ghosting effect

Summary: I've own this Samsung LCD for a few months now and I am absolutely satisfied with it. I must say that I had tried one for one full day at the job. My usage: - browse the internet - word processing - reviewing photos - playing games ( I ...

  • Word processors will love it, graphics users look else where

    Jan 24 '05
Pros: Moderately priced, great on screen image controls.
Cons: Distortion along the edges, lack of sharpness across the screen.

Summary: I know many people on here write long reviews and some take that as a good review. It drives me crazy when people take 10 words to explain something when 5 will do. With that said I will give you the best concise review I can. I recently purchased ...

  • I LOVE my Samsung 17" LCD monitor!

    Jan 13 '05
Pros: Looks cool, works great, bright, no dead pixels, easy-to-use controls.
    Cons: None so far...

Summary: Hi y'all! I got a brand new Samsung SyncMaster 712N LCD monitor for Christmas, so I do apologize 'cause I don't know how much it was. First off, I absolutely hate dead pixels - they're not normal, they're a manufacturing defect. So, I was very ...

  • Great picture, small footprint, only 2 dead pixels.

    Nov 28 '04
Pros: Crisp fonts, bright graphics, good color, lightweight, small footprint.
Cons: Two dead pixels right out of the box.

Summary: If you've never purchased an LCD monitor, then please allow me to save you some grief. Any LCD monitor you buy will have dead pixels, usually just a few, but you'll have to live with the fact that the screen will contain a few randomly placed dots ...

  • Disappointed

    Nov 04 '04
Pros: Good response time and contrast ratio.
Cons: Dead pixels. Awkward controls. Poor dead pixel policies.

Summary: This monitor has such good reviews. Samsung always has monitors in PC world's top ten. The specs, including 12ms and the contrast ratio are superb. They went on sale here recently so I decided it was time to get one. I rushed home and hooked it up. ...

  • Great value but colors are not as good.

    Oct 25 '04
Pros: 12ms response time, great image quality, high brightness/contrast ratios, thin bezel
Cons: No DVI, grey-scale is not good, no height-adjustability.

Summary: This display has several great options, and far more than its drawbacks. I'm not a graphic designer or a photoshop guy. I use my computer for web-browsing, gaming, work and audio production. So, the most important thing to me is that it can work ...

  • Fantastic value for a 17 inch monitor!

    Aug 13 '04
Pros: Crisp, vibrant, attractive display with full 17 inches of visual glory!
    Cons: None to think of

Summary: Browsing the LCD market can certainly be a daunting task, with the numerous sizes, brands, and models available at a wide range of prices. I needed to invest in an LCD for college, as a CRT simply is a waste of space in a miniscule dorm room. Anyway, ...

  • Crisp and clear!

    Jul 29 '04
Pros: Image and color reproduction, excellent contrast and brightness, easy to setup, intuitive software.
    Cons: Sparse manual

Summary: Working in front of CRT screen all day was taking its toll on my eyes, so it was time to ditch my 17 inch Goldstar CRT and look for an LCD. I did extensive research, looking for the ultimate LCD monitor that combined the best features and performance, ...

  • Buyer beware

    Feb 10 '05
    Pros: Sleek
Cons: Flickered day of purchase, black screen (died) day after.

Summary: I bought the product yesterday, and after installing it would flicker on and off every 20min or so. I thought maybe it was adjusting and that was normal. I returned to work this morning and the power light indicator would not stay solid green. In

  • Just Fine

    Dec 03 '04
Pros: Great for text and day to day use, low power consumption.
Cons: Dead pixel allowance higher than industry standard.

Summary: Great for an LCD, passable for Photoshop, but not as good as good CRT. Mine has no dead pixels, expect to pay and extra $50 for a no dead pixel guarantee. Better check for Samsung's dead pixel count allowance before they consider the monitor defective.

  • Samsung 712N Monitor LCD

Pros: Great looking, narrow bezels, name brand, and price.
Cons: Color, line clearness, dead pixel found.

Summary: I bought this monitor at a Black Friday Sale at a major retail electronic store for $250 + tax. What a great deal for a nice looking monitor. However... I dont know if it was my bad luck or not, but when I hooked it up, I found a dead pixel in the
