Pros: Inexpensive. Cons: Picture problems developed after 1.5 years, cannot get repaired.
UPDATE: After 1.5 years picture problems developed: thin bands of dark lines along the left edge of the screen, and hazy darker and lighter areas in the rest of the screen. Warranty repair did not fix the problem. Can no longer recommend this TV. ...

Still Going Strong After 1.5 Years
by mfm154 ,Aug 20 '04
Pros: Great clarity, 16:9 great for watching DVDs Cons: Extremely heavy to move
I purchased this 16:9 30" Samsung HDTV about 1.5 years ago and I am glad did. I have had absolutely no problems with it. In fact, recently I purchased satellite TV and the HD channels are amazing. Normally I view regular TV in stretch mode, and although this does slightly alter the picture it is not that bad. For the price I believe this is the best value of HDTV widescreens on the market, even today. If you want to upgrade to HD but don't have over $1000, then I definitely recommend this TV.

Excellent Entry Level HDTV!!
by bigdaddyslappy ,Oct 05 '04
Pros: Excellent HD Picture, Great Price. Cons: Poor 480i interlaced picture out of the box. Clumsy on screen menu interface
I've now owned the Samsung TXN3071WHF for well over a year now, and I am extremely pleased with this television. It has a decent selection of inputs, although there are no rear S-Video inputs, only one on the left side of the unit. The HD picture is very crisp and clean. This is also a great television for HD Gaming which is it's primary use for me with my X-BOX. The Set does have one set back however, the interlaced 480i image is pretty poor out of the box. However after doing some research online, I found out how to pretty much correct it through the service menu. All and all For the price this is probably one of the best HDTV's in it's price range.
