Pros: Plays almost everything. TVGuardian is great. Digital audio is wonderful.
Cons: See above. Play options limited, remote is a pain, CC captioning has design flaw

I was an electronics tech. for 15 years and pride myself in being able to figure out and program things but I can't get the TV guardian to work on VCR or TV. I bought the DVW-5000 because my previous TV Guardian distorted the sound on my TV and VCR. The Sanyo sounds great but doesn't filter the TV or VCR. I am guessing that it only works with the DVD but haven't tested that yet.
