Pros: Decent Image Without Any Worry of Burn-In. Looks good on paper... Cons: Won't tune to ISF standard, no processor, should be alot better for this much $$$
Sharp's Aquos LCD product has certainly taken a prominent position in the Video Market. The product is widely used by custom integrators and is also available in many retail stores. Sadly, while the product is really popular, video professionals ...
Pros: For the two weeks it worked, we were satisfied with our choice. Cons: Warranty and customer service.
Saying that I regret my purchase of the Sharp Aquos LC-45GD4U would be an understatement. After only two weeks of ownership, the television broke down (no power, no picture, no sound). I contacted Aquos Dispatch immediately. When a hard reset failed ...
Pros: Movie-quality Hi-Def picture in HiDef; good speakers; easy to adjust; no burn-in. Cons: LCDs are pricey and (in early '05) still in very short supply.
The Sharp 45" LCD television is a joy to behold. Even when it's not turned on, it's not the ugly square box that defines most TVs. Unlike flat-screens with speakers on the sides, the Sharp-45 places its speakers below the screen, which is much more ...
Pros: Great picture. Lots of Inputs. Looks great. Cons: Even at $5,000 it is still a lot to pay for a TV.
I purchased one of these after looking at the market for several months. From what I could read LCD was the way to go. I tried to find one at a local store but no one had one in stock. All the local stores were asking $7,999, however sometimes they ...
Pros: A sharp clear picture of acceptable size at an affordable price Cons: Still pretty pricey for a TV SET
The usual requirement for a new TV is that it should produce a sharp clear picture of acceptable size at an affordable price. However, those of us who are married must add the decor factor that translates to: "Will the wife let me put it into the living ...
I've had one a Sharp aquos for over a year now. In the end I wish I could get my money back. At first it was great. Later I bought a great DVD player to go with it. I had the two hooked up through the HDMI inputs. I started to notice these 6 yellow ...
Pros: Good display Cons: Cant be used as laptop computer monitor.
Great TV, but cannot be used as a computer monitor. I have a laptop, outputting normal VGA, but the Aquos will not display the picture, even tho I'm following the instructions correctly. I have a VGA-DVI adaptor stuck in the back of my laptop, then ...
Pros: If you want a headache Cons: Not a good TV to get since it's the first generation 45" LCD.
I bought the LCD 11/18/05 and it's been in the repair 3 times. I rarely use the TV. First time the input button didn't work so the took about 2 to 3 weeks to fix. Then I notice a 2 inch shadow going down the middle of the tv when you play a dark ...
Sharp LC45GDU is an incredible TV by lcb111 ,Apr 06 '05
Pros: The fantastic picture and the fact you don't need a bulky cable box. Cons: There is only one set of out puts.
I didn't know what to expect because I bought it based on it's technical specs and the salesman's report. The set far surpasses any expectations I might have had.
It clearly is as bright as the top flight 36 inch CRT set I had and was reluctant to give to my daughter but the Sharp picture is mesmerizing. The high definition images are so bright and clear it's like looking out of a window onto the scene. In a sun filled room the picture is so bright there is absolutely no reason to draw the shades or blinds.
The biggest problem I have is that I never liked to watch much TV but now I am drawn to it because of the picture quality. Watching DVDs is like being in a movie theater.
Pros: New TV came but later than promised. Works fine. Cons: Shouldn't break down after 6 weeks.
TV is 6 weeks old and does not work. Was told to call repairman in the morning since it was too late in the day. Reading some of these reviews is very frightening. A $2000 TV should not break down after 6 weeks. I've had TV's that cost $200 and never had a repair for 15 years. What do you think about that? Repairman came 2 hours after the window time allotted to us and took the TV in an open bed pick up truck and wrapped it in a blanket. It was thundering out and said he would cover it with a tarp. He said if the TV was damaged they had insurance. This was totally unacceptable. I called Sharp Corporate in NJ and explained our situation. I must say they were very professional and understanding. They agreed to send a brand new TV to us and look into the service representatives they contracted with. I want to personally thank the Corporate office for their professionalism and commitment to the consumer.
Pros: Very good color Cons: Unnatural look to the faces
I bought a Sharp Aquos LC-45GD4U 45in. HDTV LCD Television on January i, 2005. From the first day I got the TV I was never satisfied with the picture quality. The close-ups of faces had an unnatural look. They looked bleached out and cartoon like. I had a number of service people check the set out, and no one was able to help. I called Sharp on May 11, 2005, and the representative told me that many people have reported this same problem, and they are trying to correct it. I have a service contract with Sharp that states that they will replace the TV if there are three service calls, and the set is not fixed. However, they said that they would replace it with another set that has the same problem. Consumer Digest gives this TV a very good rating, and that is why I bought it.
Pros: Size, hi-def picture. Cons: Unable to change channels
Since I purchased this set in mid-September of this year I have had the same problem almost daily. When I turn the set on it will (1/3 of the time) hang between Channels 61 and 64. All analog channels from Cox Communications. I can enter a digital channel and everything is normal. I have called Sharp a couple of times, and they give me a Service Center 60 miles away. I have called them (Long Distance) and they tell me I would have to bring the set to them in order for them to service it. This does not seem like very good service to me. Set is mounted on wall over Mantel in Den, and would be a chore to have to take the set down, and haul 60 miles. Maybe I should just take beating, and go back to Sony. Set did look awful Good in showroom.
By the way-I can turn set off, wait a few minutes, and sometimes it will start back normal; other times I have to do same thing several times. Luck seems to be the only logical thing.
Pricey but very good television by tusker2 ,Jan 22 '05
Pros: Great HDTV and DVD picture Cons: Analog picture could be more clear
I chose this TV because I wanted a durable, large, thin-screen HDTV to go over my fireplace. This TV fills the bill. DVD and HDTV pic looks great; I can't stress enough how good the HDTV pic looks. Analog picture is subject to pixelization and blurring on edges during fast motion. This model Aquos does not have the separate AVC system which increases its weight to about 70 lbs. It does have an integrated HDTV tuner. I hooked a standard outdoor antenna to it (installed in my attic) and it pulled in crystal clear HDTV programming from my local stations. Lots of input hook ups; use component cables for DVD. We are avid TV watchers -- over 40 hours per week. I could have gotten a similar sized plasma screen for about 30% less cost but was worried about burn-in and fade. Specs on LCDs and reviews on Aquos models sold me on this TV. Very satisfied.
Sharp Auos LC45GD4U Television by deidson ,Feb 01 '05
Pros: sharp picture Cons: none
Purchases at christmas by my son as christmas gift for my wife and I.Best picture quality I have seen on any TV.with the 1980 resolution it offers a sharp picture.Sound is real
quality also.I recommend this Tv.
Pros: Size, quality picture, and Sound. Cons: No TV Guide, prefer external AVC
I got the LC-45GD4U under a month so far and have it connected to a Media PC and had the Cable Card installed for HD. I was hoping for the LC-45DX6U, but through a poor decision of online retailers (Plasma House is EVIL) I ended up with this model. I wasn't expecting much so I am pleasantly surprised about this sets quality. I wish it had an external Tuner, and a TV Guide option for HD Recording through the fire wire, but as an HDTV LCD I am very pleased and hope to have the unit for quick some time. If I do encounter any problems I will update.
