After a couple months of use, we noticed they were emitting a high-pitched whine; almost like a mosquito. What was happening was the electrified wires were collecting dust near its base, and was discharging electricity. Since the units were on warranty, I sent them in for replacements. The replacements arrived hassle-free, but there was a notice stating that these units could only be replaced once.
After another couple months of clean air, the whine came back. We tried to muscle through the noise, but, like any constant high-pitched sound when you're trying to relax, it drove us nuts, and have been placed in retirement since.
