Pros: Works well for a small space, minimizes allergens and odors. Cons: Needs frequent cleanings, makes ugly hissing sound when dirty.
This is a smaller, table top version of the taller, free standing Ionic Breeze model which is designed to purify the air of larger areas. This particular model is meant for a single room. I've had mine in my bedroom for the past year and a half. After ...

Pros: compact, almost no extra cost, little energy use, silent, low ozone level, easy to clean. Cons: not made for a room, cleaning grid very small, buy u/v bulb once a year.
Opening: I first heard of this unit after I had already owned two of the full size Ionic Breeze units, while I love everything about the full size units, the ( not mentioned in the heading for the SI720) desk top model does not do the job of the ...

Pros: kill odors, smashing the GP bulb could be fun Cons: air fresheners should not make you feel horrible

Be warned - these don't last long
by cd_reynolds ,Feb 18 '05
Pros: When they work they seem to clean very well. Cons: Reliability - I bought two, they've shipped three replacements. 100% failure rate within 6 months.
Based on word of mouth recommendations, I purchased two of these Ionic Breeze air filters. They were, and still are, a very premium priced product, about $500 for two units.
After a whoping 14 months of ownership, Sharper Image has shipped me THREE replacement units for my original purchase of TWO. Yes, that means both of the original units broke and one of the replacements has since broken.
These are nice units if and when they work, but don't get too excited about long term longevity - my two sit on a bookshelf, turned on, I clean them weekly, and they seem to last only about 6 months. No drops, spills, or other damage, they simply stop working.

WAY overpriced GP sickening
by cwmc ,Sep 09 '06
Pros: Ionic Breeze works well. Cons: GP UV makes me nauseous and dizzy. Whole house smells like serious electrical fire.
I was excited to try the GP part of this. When I turned it on, I got dizzy and nauseous. The room and then the whole house smelled like a serious electrical fire. I went to a few SI stores since then, and experience the same thing when I get near the IB with GP on. I emailed SI at their web site with no response. My brother got a couple of things there and they're garbage. I got a phone answering machine there a few years ago which was absolute crap.
