I am a big allergy sufferer and I have been in search for the best air purifier. I can tell you after purchasing HEPA based air purifiers, sharper images Ionic Breeze is in no comparison. After purchasing the ionic breeze, and running it my room for several days, i noticed no improvement whatsoever in the quality of my breathing. I ended up returning the ionic breeze and purchasing a HEPA based air purifier for a 1/4 of the price and boy what a difference. My breathing is much better with the HEPA based purifier.

I ended up doing more research and found that two reputable research organizations, Consumer Reports and Air Purifiers America both denounced the effectiveness of purifiers based on Sharper Images Ionic breeze technology and rated them at the bottom of the list (Consumer Reports ranked the Ionic Breeze in last place and Air Purifiers of America did not recommend any ionizer type purification whatsover).

I bought an ionic breeze about 6 months ago, and since then have discovered that if I run it in my bedroom while I am sleeping, I will wake up with breathing problems and will not sleep well. I find that I cannot breathe very well if there is an ionic breeze running in a closed room.
The machine seems to remove particles well, but something it produces (probably the ozone) causes me a great deal of breathing trouble. I am asthmatic and allergic with a very sensitive respiratory tract, so this may be why it affects me negatively.
I would not recommend this product because it is far too expensive to take the risk of possibly having problems with its ozone emissions and having it not work.

Pros: low maintenance... clean in 20 seconds, removes odors
Cons: must clean every 1-2 weeks or will make crackling sound when dirty

I've owned the Ionic Breeze compact Quadra for two years now.
this has been my bedroom model and it has mad a significant difference in my morning allergies. No more waking up and sneezing any more.

Note: these are low power purifiers and not designed for instant gratification. I noticed my changes over a 2-3 week period. I've also owned a factory refurbished Quadra for a year now for my living room and it is working great.

Pros: Quite, sleek look, and cleanable filter
Cons: Does not clean anything...need I say more.

I purchased this unit about two years ago and after seeing other opinions on this item, I decided to give my feedback.

By no means does this unit make breathing any easier for you. It cleans the same amount of dust you can find by wiping the top of your TV every week. Now this does not mean that by plugging in the Ionic Breeze you will not have to wipe any dust anymore...you see the same amount, I promise!

However the unit is rather quite, practically noiseless which is remarkable.

Again if you wish to have cleaner air, you must decide on a true fan filter to do the job. I feel it is a crime for Sharper Image to claim that the Ionic Breeze can help an asthmatic patient or help you breath better.
