Expect the Best From German Engineering II

by branshew , Jun 17 '05
Pros: Super Quiet, Easy to Use Controls, Warranty, Build Quality, Energy & Water Efficient
Cons: Pricey, Untested reliability, Not stackable
This it titled as number II since this Siemens washer is on the epinions site under two different names (I know that there are two different Ultrasense washer models, but this particular model is on the site 2 times) so I thought I would list the review ...

German Engineering my eye

by aeastman , Apr 18 '06
Pros: Style, Stainless steel drum
Cons: No manual controls, VIBRATION ISSUES
We are very sorry we bought this machine. We have had nothing but problems with vibration/walking since it was installed. In the beginning, every time we called Customer Service we were given something new to try. Eventually the suspension was ...

Hey Mikey, he likes it

by doublewhammy , Nov 21 '05
Pros: Efficient. Quiet. Multi-program wash that seems pretty intuitive. Nice to look at.
Cons: May overwhelm your old drier.
The machine is the BOSS. I like tech, and this is a great example of technology being put to everyday PRACTICAL use. I have used this washing machine for almost 3 months now. My first impression was that it was quieter than I expected. But after ...

Even better than I thought it would be.

by stocktoad , Nov 25 '06
Pros: Quiet---Does small loads as well as large.
Cons: It should have a spin only cycle, but I don't think any do.
After doing a fair amount of research on front loading washers, I concluded that there are NONE that people weren't complaining about. My new search method was to check the brands that seemed to have the least complaints, or in some cases the ones that ...

Pricey, but worth every penny

by gadgetking , Jul 17 '05
Pros: Quiet, efficient, beautifully engineered, Made in the USA.
Cons: Expensive, but worth it!
After 20 years of hauling clothes (and quarters) back and forth to the laundry room of my apt. building I was very pleased to purchase my own washer & dryer when I recently moved. I admit I was initially attracted to the Siemens brand due to it's ...

Great Build Quality But Two Major Flaws

by kenptc , Jan 11 '06
Pros: Good quality construction. Controls easy and sturdy. Dispensers nice and large, easy to fill.
Cons: Excessive vibration and wobbling. Constant beeping at end of wash cycle...same for dryer.
After using a Maytag front loading washer since 1999, I am quite familiar with the front loading operating characteristics. One of those characteristics is machine vibration which is very excessive on the Siemens washer. Yes, the machine is located in an ...

BE VERY VERY CAREFUL WITH SIEMENS

by jahopkins , Apr 14 '06
Pros: None to speak of at this time
Cons: Product un-reliability, poor Siemens support, poor service/repair for Siemens product from Auth. Service Centers
Washer WFXD5200UC received very good reviews. I thought I did extensive research on Siemens and the washer before I purchased. I guess I didn't do enough! BE VERY VERY CAREFUL buying a Siemens washer! 2 weeks after I purchased and had installed, ...

My washes grows mold

by blooddonor1 , Nov 22 '07
Pros: Washer does good on cleaning clothes.
Cons: Mold on door seal. Can not keep clean due to standing water.
I Have a Siemens washer model WFXD5200. I have had this washer for about 2 years. I have had a problem trying to keep the mold from growing on the door seal. The washer holds water in the door gasket. This water will sit in the door seal and give the ...

Broken at only 60 days old

by rskbaker , Jun 17 '06
Pros: none
Cons: wash cycles are too long, temperature selection is limited to cotton or permanent press only
Sunday: My Siemens is only 60 days old and it will not drain. The phone number in my manual for Siemens service and the phone numbers listed on their website are not working, nor is their website taking concerns or complaints. I will never buy ...

Good Washer, Lousy Service
by pshelton ,Sep 25 '06
Pros: Easy to use, works well when it works.
Cons: Atrocious customer service.
The tub started leaking, and Siemens blamed me, refusing to honor the warranty. I sued them in court and suddenly they wanted to help me. The washer worked when the repairman came out, and didn't work when he left. They promised me a new washer within 10 days, but didn't ship it until the 11th day. Best Buy no longer carries Siemens washers, probably because of too many repairs and bad service. I'd avoid Siemens and its underlying components, made by Bosch.

Super quiet, easy to use, cleans the clothes
by medfrog ,May 05 '06
Pros: QUIET, Super clean clothes
Cons: Longer cycle times
Had this washer for 2 weeks. Amazed at how quiet it is. You can only hear it when it is on maximum spin and even then it is a gentle hum. I was afraid of vibration during spin since this is a common complaint for a lot of front loaders. It sits on concrete floor and was leveled and does not vibrate during maximum spin. I have put a glass of water on top during spin and there is no sloshing of the water. Wife says that it cleans very well and it uses very little detergent. Have been using regular liquid Tide (Not HE type) and there are no excessive suds. Installed it myself. Very easy. Leveling was somewhat hard because it is very very very heavy. cycle times are longer than our previous top loader, but the laundry seems to be cleared out faster than with the old washer. Just have to get used to a different wait time.

still waiting for it to finish
by gmeyer824 ,Sep 12 '06
Pros: Quiet easy to use
Cons: VERY LONG CYCLE TIMES
This is a nice quiet machine however 93 min. to do a load of towels! I could have done two loads of towels in our old speed queen washer (that was 20 years old) in the same amount of time and this is using less than the recomended 2/3 cup of Tide HE detergent. This machine has taken two hours to do a load of towels when I used 2/3 cup of Tide HE I hope it lasts 20 years like our old machine did
