Pros: Easier and less tedious than ironing; Excellent steam output Cons: Its large size makes it more challenging to store than an iron
I decided to buy my Rowenta Garment Steamer because I abhor ironing and had been using a cheap, little travel steamer for some time with pretty good success, but with great inconvenience as it only holds a couple of tablespoons of water and needs constant ...

Pros: It's easy to set up and heats up quickly. Cons: Doesn't get the wrinkles out. Hard to dry out the machine after use.
I bought the Rowenta Steamer one month ago because I don't like to iron, and a friend mentioned that she had a steamer and she prefers it over ironing (note: my friend's is not the Rowenta; it is a $300 commercial steamer). After using the Rowenta ...

Pros: Heats up quickly; easy to assemble; handy on/off switch Cons: Doesn't do a complete job; hassle to empty water
I require the use of an iron often as I iron my own work dress shirts. My wife bought me a steamer for Xmas and I must say I was pretty excited to receive such a thoughtful gift. I was excited to try it out as I had a backlog of workshirts so after ...

Can't Replace the Iron Completely!
by huckabuck ,Aug 19 '04
Pros: Works great when you need to get a ton of clothes ready. Cons: Drying the unit out after using.
I bought this product because I loathed the idea of standing by an ironing board for hours to prepare for our cruise. Yes, Mom brought me up by the way of the iron and I can't escape it! It works very well if you're willing to press a ton of clothes. However, it's just not worth the effort for an individual outfit. I don't think it works great on shirts with collars -- those still come out best with some starch and an old-fashioned iron. The steamer does work awesome on sweaters and delicate silks. I don't regret that I purchased it -- I just don't seem to use it as often as I should. I'll appreciate it the next time I need to get ready for a long vacation!

Ironing Days are Over!
by nanci2539 ,May 04 '04
Pros: A great alternative to ironing! Cons: None that I can think of!
I purchased this over the weekend after looking at my summer wardrobe knowing that I had to either pull out the iron or take most of my wardrobe to the dry cleaners to press.
My co-worker has a Rowenta garment steamer and raves about it so using some store coupons, I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to purchase the machine. There was another brand, next to the Rowenta for half the cost but I bit the bullet and purchased the Rowenta.
It's easy to assemble, easy to follow directions, heats up almost instantly and does a near perfect job in eliminating most wrinkles after the first pass. Heavy linen takes a few passes.
Now I'm looking for anything to steam press! Tablecloths, bedspreads, drapes!
I have a large walk in closet and it fits nicely against a wall which has an outlet on it! I even have a pull down ironing board in the closet which I guess will never be used!
