Rowenta DG 980 Steam Generator, Wrinkles Don't Stand A Chance!

by lllopez lllopez is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Home and Garden, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Dec 08 '05
Pros: Results, Results, Results, Doubles as Steamer
Cons: Cost
I am not new to Rowenta products. I owned the DG 050 until I recently gave it to my son who was in need of an iron. He has not stopped gushing about the results he’s getting with it. I didn’t hesitate to replace it with the Rowenta DG 980 Steam ...

Rowenta DG-980

by chrisfll , Jan 01 '05
Pros: Lots of steam, fast 3 minute start up. More efficient than traditional irons.
Cons: The soleplate can shine delicate garments.
I own a Rowenta Professional DM-880 clothing iron, however, it spat water at lower temperatures, and did a mediocre job of getting the wrinkles out of 100% cotton dress shirts at the high settings. Part of the problem was it just was not generating a ...

fast and ample steam power

by unterspan , Aug 27 '05
Pros: Lots of steam, lightweight iron, easy to refill
Cons: expensive
The Rowenta DG-980 is a steam generator iron that will meet all your expectations and speed up ironing more than you ever imagined. What is a steam generator iron you might ask and how could an iron warrant such a price? This iron has an easily ...

Careful, my DG-980 failed in less than 1 year, twice!

by afiore , Jun 19 '06
Pros: Steam generator, the only way to iron clothes!; quickly available steam; and refillable while hot.
Cons: An apparent design defect causes it to FAIL within one year of moderate use!
On May 17, 2004, I purchased the Rowenta DG-980 iron. I was impressed by the steam generator iron design, but, frankly, I was leery of purchasing another Rowenta product because of past Rowenta steam iron failures. I could not resist the admittedly ...

ROWENTA Expert Steam Generator DG-980
by rrrh ,Oct 01 '03
Pros: Quick heating and outstanding steam and heat control.
Cons: Large iron rest base, however easy to work around.
Highly recommended as ironing really does takes half the time. Excellent heat and steam controls and large water tank. Highly recommended!

Rowenta DG-980 limited life span
by o2helpu ,Dec 04 '06
Pros: Great steam source for ironing men's shirts. Larger than normal, easily filled water tank.
Cons: Steam release failure after a year of service.
I have had two other Rowenta steam irons, which I liked for the steam generation, but wanted MORE POWER for men's shirts. After some online research(2004)the DG-80 seemed to be the answer. It worked great for a little over a year. Just past the warranty date, it quit putting out any steam. I haven't gotten it mailed back, and wonder if it is worth the effort. Planned obsolescence? The similarity of my experience to the other less than stellar performance review was just too similar to overlook. I only hope my friend that purchased one of these after she saw mine(when it was working)has much better luck.

$99.00 at Sears!!
by dspowers ,Jul 22 '09
Pros: Gets out tough wrinkles and produces hot steam.
Cons: Doesn't have an automatic shut off.
I just bought my second dg 980 for only $99.00 and free shipping at Sears!!!  This is an awesome price!!  My first iron broke after dropping it and owning it for over 3 years.  THis is the best price for this iron anywhere! Make sure you follow all directions on how to care for your iron.  There is a boiler at the bottom that has a plug that needs to be emptied after multiple uses.  If it is not emptied, brown yucky water will pour out of the holes and dirty your clothes. I have been very pleased with my original iron and am even more pleased to find it for $150.00 cheaper than what I originally paid for it!!
