Pros: Great sound, good prioritization of features in the interface, lots of features Cons: Some annoyingly small buttons, doesn't appear to let you navigate folders on a CD-R.
To give you some background, I have had a Sony mobile-ES Series CDX-C8050X and matching 10-disc changer in my 2000 Honda Accord since 2001. I have it hooked into a 5-channel Eclipse amp, with Eclipse components in the front doors, Eclipse 6x9s in the ...

Pros: Built-in high and low pass outputs, 52 watts x 4, auto display dimmer, removable face-plate. Cons: Major functions only in the remote, tiny buttons on the face-plate, unreadable clock.
This head unit has a major advantage in allowing a crossover function (high pass and low pass frequency output) to reside within itself, thereby allowing good sound separation for your lows, mids and highs without having to buy an additional amplifier ...

Pros: excellent sound quality, features, and functionality Cons: display quit working
i bought this product from a friend for a hundred and fifty dollars. it is an excellent deck, i love all the features such as high and low pass filters and sub volume control. it has superb sound quality and despite what others think i have no problems with all the functions and controls. after about 6 months of head banging seat thumping use, the display began to on and off by it self. then eventually stopped working all together. i cant see any of the functions to know what i am doing. frustrated i reset the deck and out of memory and a good ear i reset my settings and now don't change them because i cant be sure what i am changing. i have heard of this happening to this deck before. i still love the sound quality of this deck and would recommend it to anyone . in fact i am currently looking for another one.

Where's the quality control??

Pros: Good sound Cons: Skips playing MP3s. Unreliable unit
I purchased this unit because I owned a Sony in the past and it was great. The sound from this unit is very good. Unfortunately, the first problem I had with it was that it skipped when playing MP3s. I returned the unit for a new one and the new one had the exact same problem. When I called for customer support, they really couldn't fix the problem. They said the usual. Try different media, try different burning program. I did all that many times and the problem remained. I then stopped playing MP3 and just played CDs. The unit worked OK for a few months and then developed skipping problems along with numerous other problems. Sometimes the unit would give an error message and would stop working for a day or two. Sometimes the unit would skip repeatedly. It seems like the quality control had disappeared from Sony car CDs.

Pros: Good sound, good power, good looks, love the adjustable sub control, nice colors and graphics. Cons: keeps breaking, small buttons, auto dimmer feature dont work.
I really like the sound quality out of this unit. The clock is kind of hard to read but what is really annoying is the fact it's on the second trip back to Sony the first time it started smoking this time the display isn't working im kind of let down by Sony this time around.

Last time I buy Sony
by rayjj ,Sep 09 '04
Pros: The nice silver design is cool Cons: Terrible quality, bad customer service
OK I have had this unit since March 04. The remote that was included with it, I exchanged immediately because the buttons would work when it wanted to, and other times not at all, then other times one push of a button would result in it acting as if my finger was being held on the button.
Yesterday, while in it's protective case, I slightly bumped the radio against the door while unlocking it to get into my house. Well what do you know, the whole internal display shattered! Sony expects me now to pay 3/4 the price I paid for the deck for a new faceplate. Not gonna happen! You would think Sony customer service would be a little helpful, but no. Something that is removable and portable should be made a lot stronger than this unit apparently is! Time to shop for a new brand, as Sony has lost me forever as a customer.
