Pros: Nice power, compact package, reasonable price, nice looks Cons: everything is self-contained; speakers do not detach.
When my existing boom box, a Sony CFD-ZW 755 started to skip during CD playback, I figured it was time for a replacement. Most of the time I use a boombox in my studio to play background CDs for my students during music lessons. The space I have to ...
Pros: Good sound, easy controls Cons: garish design, a little cheap in feel
SONY CFD-G500 I wanted a music system for my office. I didn't want to spend too much money. I wanted to be able to play tapes and CDs, and I wanted a radio. I went to Target to see what was available, and after doing a little research, I settled ...
Pros: Fantastic bass, decent mid-high for a non-audiophile unit, plenty power, good features Cons: Really BIG and HEAVY, design is a bit too rad/goth/sci-fi
[I ramble. For a brief review, look elsewhere] My very generic RCA boombox started not reading CDs (most common defect) so I started looking around and got this big fella from an ebay seller. A few days later I put it through the paces and was extremely ...
Pros: Sound, sound, heart warming clear sound... Cons: Industrial look - will not go with a classy decor.
Buy it! Hear it! and be happy! This thing is the best sound you can get for under $100 period. You can get better for $250 with JVC Kaboom, but then it looks like a military tool. This thing looks like a nuclear sub - better than JVC if ...
Pros: Bass response, more bass adjustments Cons: Huge footprint. Small LCD display.
Needs more treble and bass adjustments.
Yeah, this unit is a lot better than the Sony CFD-F10. I just wish it had the equalizer sliders that my old cheapo panasonic cassette boom box had. The only bass adjustments are essentially small, medium and large bass. Even my stock car stereo has a treble and bass linear adjustment Then again, I like a lot of base so up to the top it went. Good bass response even at low volume levels.
This replaces the Sony CFD-F10 which I returned which had lackluster bass. this unit is $20 more.
Again, small lcd display is difficult to read.
Foot print is pretty enormous. Would like to find an equivalent without the cassette., but, what you gonna do.

Numerous features made portable by zaklamont ,Jan 14 '08
Pros: fine sound; portability; durability and dependability; great bass Cons: radio tuning; tiny play and "sleep" option window display (design-display issue)
I love this unit's portability in spite of it carrying numerous features: tape, radio, cd, etc.
To date, it's gives an impression of durability and dependability.
The sound is just fine and for those who enjoy lots of bass, it's great, with two levels of bass offered.
The only two drawbacks I found with it were: i. some difficulty in getting the optimum tuning when locating a radio station; ii. a design issue relating to the window showing play and "sleep" options: it's tiny.
