Pros: Cost, picture/sound quality, ease of use Cons: Needs brighter light
As my old G.E full sized VHS camcorder began to show it's age & weight, I decided to look for a nice small camcorder to use without breaking my back using it for more than 20 minutes of use. I was shopping around, and looked at Best Buy to see what ...
Pros: Chock full of features for an affordable price! Cons: The included software leaves something to be desired.
As some of you may know, I work in the rough-and-tumble world of professional wrestling as a photographer. I've had more requests this year for getting video of wrestlers. Sometimes the wrestlers can provide you with a camera, but most of the time they ...
Pros: easy to use, good quality recording, lighting, "steady shot option", "nightshot option", USB capabilities, zoom Cons: battery charge life, software included was difficult and didn't have desired features
I bought the Handycam (DCR-TRV260), so that I would be able to send videos of my daughter and I to my husband who's currently in Iraq. When trying it out in the store, I was pretty impressed with the price to start, and the fact that it was ...
Pros: Lightweight, clearly marked buttons, easy hookup to other electronic equipment, all cables provided. Cons: Cannot operate zoom feature with one hand holding the camcorder. Cannot load provided computer software.
I have been using this camcorder for a month. My previous JVC VHS-C camcorder lasted us for 9 years with one repair along the way. I didn't completely understand how digital recording worked while still using a tape, but once I played back the new ...
Pros: User-friendly, You can usually find it on sale at Best Buy or Target, conveniant Cons: Price if not on sale, however it is worth it, battery life span
My husband and I received this camcorder as a Christmas gift when we were expecting our first child. We literally opened it christmas morning and started using it immediately. It is very user friendly. Also you can use many different brands of DVDs even ...
Pros: connections allow you to connect to almost any other device Cons: can't take digital pictures
Sony Software not great, try Microsoft Movie maker instead
This is my first camcorder. After weeks of looking at others, I decided on this one. I've had it for about 6 months and am very happy with it.
It is easy to use and gives great results. Its easy for my wife and kids to use and has plenty of features to keep me happy. I bought the TRV260 model. When not being used as a camcorder it doubles as an excellent webcam. Sometimes I wished I bought the 460 version which allows you to take digital pictures but my budget could not afford the extra $100.
Sony did a great job with the connections. Its allows you to connect it to you pc with either a USB cable or Firewire.
I would recommend a trypod and the optional Sonykit(camera bag, cassette and extra battery)which are well worth it.
Perfect but with just one problem by easybuyer ,Jan 03 '05
Pros: Good price. Cons: Can't mute the microphone.
I bought this mainly for the price. An overall good camcorder. The sound is awesome. The software isn't all that great, and confusing. I use Windows Movie Maker instead. My only beef with this camcorder is that I can't mute the microphone. How am I supposed to make Rock Videos if I pick up background noise? I've tried covering up the microphone with tape, but that thing is so powerful it picks up everything. Any solutions that you know of would be most helpful.
Pros: Good picture quality in daytime, good fading options and effects. Cons: How could a camcorder this good have cons.
I had recently bought a mini camcorder and this one. I found that this camera has better features. It has the light and the night shot which i felt was useful for taping in the dark or outside in the night. It has a lot of fading options and effects. I would HIGHLY recommend it.
I bought this camcorder as my first digital one, and I was impressed with the ease of use. All of the buttons are in the places you would expect them, and the menus are instinctive. However, I did have a problem with the sound. This camera makes a rather loud noise when recording, which picks up through the microphone. Without an external microphone jack, there was nothing we could do about it. Overall, The camera performed admirably in most conditions and the "Nightshot" mode worked like magic.

Pros: Sony Quality Cons: Doesn't Function As Advertised
I specifically bought this camera to digitize VHS tapes so I could convert them to DVD. I have followed the instructions to the tee and the camera will not tape from the VCR. Wasted $$
Sony Handycam DCR-TRV260 Digital-8 Digital Camcorder by mongerama ,Oct 16 '05
Pros: affordable, takes a nice picture Cons: useless software, only viewable on LCD screen that i can tell
takes a great picture, providing you dont mind watching it on the LCD screen...the software could be a bit more confusing and useless if it only came in swahili... impossible to transfer to DVD (best i got after trying several programs was a something that looked like a security cam...every 3rd frame cut)and no simple analog outs so you can at least watch it on TV or hook to a VHS...horrific design...i feel rooked..back to faithful analog
