Pros: Image quality (both video and still pictures). Versatility. Connectivity. Loaded with extra features. Cons: Comes with only 8MB memory stick. Slightly grainy video in low-light. Cassette loads from bottom.
In my opinion, this has to be the best consumer-level camcorder right now in the market. Before I purchased it, I made sure I took a long time comparing it to other similar products, particularly the Panasonic 953. In the end, the Sony TRV 70 was the ...
Pros: Great video quality. Cons: Probably more features than I will ever need or use.

Great camera for still and video. by pbernard ,Sep 09 '03
Pros: Easy to use. Good picture quality. Long battery life. Goes from off to start fast. Cons: A few too many features.
I finally had to replace an 11-year old HI-8 Sony camera. When it came to formats, I went with Mini-DV because it seems to be the best for reproducing digital pictures. I decided my experience with Sony was good, so now the question was,"Which camera is best for me?"
After comparing features and megapixels, the TRV-70 fit the bill. It is easy to operate, shoots in low light, and had a "still" feature that is convenient.
My only gripe so far is the amazing number of features on this unit. I will likely never use some of them. One that will never be used is the Internet connection. I find the battery to last a long time, and the picture quality to be good. I shoot in 16:9 for my wide-screen t.v. The shots look pretty good for a 2 megapixel camera.
The TRV-70 is a good little camera, that I hope, will last another 10 years.
Pros: Everything/Video quality, still pictures, size, image stabilization/Everything Cons: None
I have owned many camcorders and this one is awesome. Great video, even in low light. Very good still pictures for a camcorder. Tons of options. Some I will never use, but it's nice to have so many. I am very, very pleased with this camera.
Sony DCR- TRV70 good camcorder by kharin ,Jun 29 '04
Pros: the lens, white balance, and everything combined MAKE FOR GREAT CAMERA. Cons: color for video and stills could have been brighter .
Since the only two camcorders I have tried, were the TRV-70 and the newer smaller Panasonic with 3ccds, I thought I would give a short review of the Sony. I ended up giving it an excellent rating even though all my checks were marked good. Its now 2005 AND STILL THINK ITS A GREAT CONSUMER CAMERA. The reason, when you add all the good together, the good becomes great. The Panasonic was a bit more clear and brighter with the 3ccds but the Sony had the sharpest and greatest lens that blew me away..I wish there were more reviews because these things are a blast to play around with . The trv - 70 is a mans toy you can have a field day with. From taking 10xzoom videos on a card to sending them thru email to friends, to taking stills ( fair not really good) to taking pretty consistently good videos easily,to network use, this Camera does it all and it has a great lens to complete the task. So yes very recommended.
