problems retracting the lens
by manuelparra ,Feb 11 '05
Pros: seems to be great but... Cons: my lens last just a month...
First I apologize for any grammatical error (I am not English speaker)...
One month after I acquired the camera, I was taking some photos when the batteries get really low in charge. The camera turned off without retracting the lens. I recharged the batteries (still thinking it might be the problem) but the lens never retracted again and the camera stayed inoperative. I sent the camera to the Laredo Repair Center and they just said it was due to physical damage (????) and (of course) the warranty did not apply anymore. I can swear the camera never suffered any hit or physical damage thus I am almost sure my ex-camera came with this problem from the fabric. I neither recommend this camera nor Sony technical Service.

Awesome camera!
by kenstermt ,Jul 22 '04
Pros: Underwater housing available, size, picture quality, battery life in minutes, manual mode, auto shut-off Cons: Packaged with 32MB(12 pics), controls a bit tedious, accessories are a little pricey
This camera is small enough to fit in your pocket and takes great photos. I was amazed at how bright the photos were even in dark areas. Accessories are a bit pricey but thats expected with Sony. I found that pagecomputers.com offer the best prices on accessory items. The upside is that Sony does offer many accessories for whatever your needs. Sony offers a reasonably priced underwater housing rated to 132 ft. Being a scuba diver, this was an important feature for me. The controls do take some practice to get use to so read your manual. I shot all weekend in the auto mode at my family reunion and the pictures turned out great. It was nice to let everyone view my pictures via TV in the evening after they were taken. The camera to TV cable is included with the camera so you don't need the docking station unless you like the remote control feature. The camera itself has a metal body and not plastic like many others out there. So far I'm very happy with this camera and besides it's a SONY.

Small and fast!
by marcusmeyers ,Aug 28 '04
Pros: Very fast startup time. Cons: Average photo quality. Lacks sharpness. Has trouble focusing in MPEG movie mode.
Overall a decent camera but picture quality is no better than the cheaper DSC-P93, which surprises me for supposedly having a better lens.

Poor Focus
by rman666 ,Oct 19 '04
Pros: compact, strong brand name, balanced and light-weight; mpegs have sound from built-in microphone. Cons: most pictures are out of focus. I'm returning mine!
P100 is attractive in size, brand name and balance/weight. But, it takes poor quality pictures... 90% are not in focus. I've tried a variety of subjects at different distances and in different lighting conditions... about 90% of the photos are not in focus, especially if you zoom in when using the 5M pixel mode. I'm returning mine even though I may have to eat the restocking fee and extended warranty I purchased.

by friendlycharm ,Jul 29 '04
Pros: the picture modes, way to set manual picture quality, the flash. Cons: the memory usage, the card given by Sony is not enough for a 5MP camera.
This is realy a great camera, compact, and packed with premium feautures. The size fits into your pocket and easily allow's you to capture the moment that you've always wanted.

i love this camera
by gojazzygo ,Nov 19 '04
Pros: easy to use, takes beautiful professional pictures. Cons: maybe a larger viewer? light for shooting video.
i purchased this camera about a year and a half ago, and fell in love! the camera can see things i cant! try zooming your photo in the viewer, then trim it, then zoom that, then trim it again, well, you get the picture!! and crystal clear! the camera would have to be surgically removed to take it from me.

A great point-and-shoot digital camera!
by mike_donaldson ,Jun 07 '04
Pros: takes wonderfully clear and detailed pictures, compact, easy to use, great value Cons: no tiff, 32 MB memory stick
I have owned 3 digital cameras in the past 3 years but this is the first Sony that I have purchased. I have to say I am so far very impressed with it. If your looking for a small, easy to use, point-and-shoot digital camera, this is a great one to have. I bought it for 380 bucks and I believe it was well worth it. Takes crystal clear pictures with a nice variety of options and settings for customization.

Sony DSC-P100 is a WINNER!!!
by hawkintx ,Oct 08 '04
Pros: VERY FAST!! Great low light performance! Cons: Goofy recharging cord connection unless you buy the charging cradle (which is great!).
I've been using my P100 for about a week now and I've been THRILLED with the results. I have used a Canon PowerShot S45 for the past year and a half and was very disappointed with the auto focus performance. The P100 is SO FAST when focusing and taking pictures....it's much easier to capture great photos of my 2 year old. The complaint about Memory Sticks being expensive is invalid, there are a lot of manufacturers available now and the prices have come down substantially. Awesome battery life and small size are additional pluses. All in all a great point and shoot camera with some flexibility for being creative.

Sony DSC-P100
by dlp107 ,Jun 29 '04
Pros: Thin, lightweight, great pictures, lens cover closes when power is off. Cons: I hoped that to put an additional lens on would not require and adapter.
I recently purchased this camera and I am totally in love with it. It is easy to use. Lightweight and takes crystal clear pictures.
I liked this so much that I purchased a Sony DSC-P72 for my 15 yr old son. He loves his as well.

Those reviews above are a cakewalk!
by kontol ,Jul 01 '04
Pros: Video Mode Cons: Expensive memory stick, picture noise all over the taken pictures
This camera was not a good digital camera because it has a darn bad noisy pixel shots and the memory stick is darn expensive!! Look at that darn photo qualities that I took beforehand, God Darn noise all over the pictures. I like the camera because of its brand, Sony, and the price was not that expensive... maybe if you don't care about picture quality, you can buy this camera. One thing to tell you that Sony is a camcorder maker, therefore I would expect the best from the movie mode of this darn camera. But I am just a god darn photo takers without doing some of the video thing. So, all those reviews are CAKEWALK!
