Pros: This is a veritable player for DVDs, CDs and SCAD. Cons: The remote, mainly the small buttons.
Sony has a new CD, SCAD, DVD 5-disc carrousel changer made to play most of the CD and DVD formats for a price of $249.00. It is compatible with CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R-RW, DVD-R-RW, VCD and Data CD discs. The CD-R and CD-RW disc must be in a MP3, music or ...
Pros: Excellent performance, SACD, other formats supported, multibrand remote Cons: Price, remote control ergonomics
The Sony DVP-NC685 is a 5-disc carousel-type DVD/CD/SACD changer. Its features include MP3 playback, progressive scan and bass management for DVD and SACD. Remote Control The remote control features similarly colored and shaped buttons. The ...
Pros: Good SACD Playback, Good DVD Video Playback, Proper connections. Cons: Menus, Remote and CD Audio Playback (notmal for DVD Players though)
I picked up this player for a couple of reasons. 1) It plays every DVD recordable/rewritable format with the possible exception of DVD-R DL (I would test it but I don't have a dual layer burner). 2) It plays SACDs and plays them well. General ...
Pros: Good electronics, plays SACD, Cons: Won't play an MP3 CD's tracks in random order.
As stated elsewhere, the quality of the electronics is not it doubt. The quality of the video and sound, its ability to play back various formats/media, the SACD are all things to recommend the system. The fact that it has SACD at this price point (I ...
Pros: Good price, a value for the price. Cons: Layer-change problems on DVDs, MP3 playing problems.
My reviews are based on the feelings of past consumers who I have come into contact with regarding their systems. Being in the electronics industry, I am hopefully able to give you an accurate picture of the overall consumer feeling on the products I ...
Doesn't play some DVDs well by zenfire1 ,Jun 13 '04
Pros: Good widescreen image
Good sound
Like the changer Cons: hiccups during some DVDs
poorly plays other DVDs
I've noticed the 2 second pauses in some DVDs. Also, I recently bought a DVD from Hawaii and the video stops halfway thru. Also, the DVD we brought back from our helicopter trip was very gray and washed out, but was very colorful on the laptop.
I was hoping to do more with DVDs and play them on the new player - as my old, old player did the same thing, but I am very disappointed that it didn't perform any better.
Pros: Nice Picture. Cons: 2 second pause on layer changes (i.e. Gladiator, The Recruit)
When I saw the price for this DVD with SACD, I was shocked by the price. This DVD player provides an awesome picture, but like most Sony DVDs, it has problems processing layer changes on DVDs. Refer to Gladiator and The Recruit. You will notice a 2 second pause where layers occur. Very annoying... The layer change wasn't the optimal place on the DVD, but nothing I can do about that. I noticed pauses on other DVD players at the same scenes, but not as bad as this DVD player. I returned the DVD player.
Pros: Has lots of bells and whistles. Sound quality is very nice! Cons: No dimmer, lights are annoyingly bright, beats paying $750 for a multi disk SACD.
I've searching for some time for a multiple disk SACD player, so when I came across this model I quickly jumped on it without the benefit of reading any reviews. So here are my findings. This unit is a steal at $220. It runs quietly, and has optical out( no need for expensive cables ).
