We had this tv for 15 months and the fly back transformer blew. Repair costs were over $250. Sony customer service was useless. 2 months of calls to them and 20 minute wait times, left us no further ahead. I will NEVER buy another Sony tv again. We have never had a problem with any tv in the past. Our first Sony, and quite honestly a piece of garbage.

I have owned this TV for a little over two years with no problems. The picture quality is great for a flat CRT. I used it mostly with the sound off connected to my home theater receiver and DVD player. The sound from the built-in speakers is OK. As the other reviewers have pointed out, it is heavy! The channel label function is pretty cool, except that I could not store more than about 30 channels’ call letters. This is shortsighted since the TV has 125 channels available. Also, there is no way to delete all the channel labels at once. So if you need to change many of the labels, you have to go to each channel and delete the label. All the other settings are fairly standard for TVs and are easy to set. The remote is easy to use, but it is not illuminated and does not glow in the dark.

Pros: Fantastic picture! Great Sound. Simple setup. Multiple Inputs. Channel Labeling (e.g. 11-NBC) is great idea.
Cons: Toggling between tv/external speakers buried in menus. TV/Video remote button is difficult to find.

What a great picture! Setup was extremely easy. Couple of connections, autoprogram the channels and it's up and running. I like that you can create labels to go along with the channel numbers. That's really a nice touch. I also like that it will display program information if it's being transmitted (program name and time remaining). It has FOUR separate video inputs (vcr/dvd/game...). Toggling between them is sweet and sure beats the old way (changing to channel 3 and flipping between tv/vcr). Picture is VERY sharp and clean. Sound is also VERY good. There is an option for switching the output to an external source (e.g. stereo system), but it's not very intuitive on just how to do this. Would be nice to have a button on the remote that would toggle back and forth.

Cons: Poor sound -- lack of warranty backing.

Great set -- yes, it is heavy, however, the Steady Sound feature DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. I have had my set in for repair 2 times....both times the techs say that there is something wrong, and yet Sony will NOT allow them to replace any parts. In comparison to the old "Auto Volume" feature (found on models such as the KV-27V42 series) works much better (the Sony rep told me). He continued to tell me that "the new Auto Volume now called 'Steady Sound' does not work as well" and as a result "nothing can be done". Yes, it is still under warranty! In other words, Sony WILL NOT back their product. Both Sony authorized technicians AND 3 Sony customer service representatives admit (and can hear) that something is wrong with the sound, yet, the technicians were told by Sony NOT to do anything -- "it is just the way it is" (per Sony Tech. Support).
I love Sony products, however, if they cannot back their TV's...who will? I'd be curious to see if anyone has encountered this.... (veshman@hotmail.com).

I got this TV as a Christmas present when I moved into my own apartment. I've had it for about 5 months now and I love it. It has great picture, the remote is easy to use, the sound is fine. I'd highly recommend this TV, so far I haven't found any bad things about it yet.
