Wow. Well after 3 years (one year unused in a climate controlled storage unit) my KV27fv16 decided to call it quits. The screen shrunk up to the top of the screen for a few seconds, then disappeared and the unit shut down.

The Sony repair man simply said that "that doesn't sound good" and "some electronics don't last very long". Great responses.

I bought a Sony trinitron because my parents had one that lasted 20 years until I gave it away after college 5 years ago.

Buy a Panasonic or some other brand.
