Delivered and set by Circuit City on time. I'm getting HD cable from Adelphia and this television has the best image I have ever seen. It's better than any plasma or LCD screen and it far outclasses a projection style tube. Plenty of inputs and there are 2 sets of component connections so I can configure discrete cable box and home theater system hook ups. The 34 inch screen size is perfect for this room and our viewing is from about 6 feet away. From 20 feet away the image still looks superb. The built in audio is average - but I can run the outputs from the set to my home theater and that works well.

The TV stopped working due to a broken Circuit board # A-1302-036A. The cost for the board and labor to diagnose and repair was $325.85. Took 4 weeks to get the part.
Circuit City just delivered this TV the other day (highly recommended as it weighs 200 lbs!) and I must admit, it's a pleasure to watch! The high-definition feed from my HD DirecTV satellite dish is fantastic, especially while watching NFL games. I always thought regular live telecasts of sporting events looked so much better than other shows but toggling back and forth between the analog and HD channels clearly showed the superiority of the HD broadcast. The colors were vibrant and the black-and-white stripes of the referee's uniform were crisp and sharp.
I also contemplated getting the Sony 42" LCD rear-projection set but often read complaints about the "less-than-black" blacks which is no problem on the KV-34HS420. The sound is pretty good but we also purchased a Sony Home Theater system (and got a rebate on the package deal) so it's not a big issue for us.
Overall, this is an extremely good HDTV for the money. You can pay more to get more features on other Sony TVs but those bells-and-whistles would be wasted on us, anyway.

I bought this TV in June 2004 and had a problem with PIP after about 45 days. Tweeter fixed it (after 3 visits and several weeks). But when I got Digital Cable with HDTV, the real problem showed up. There is an annoying white "ghost line" I call it - some techs call it a "humm bar" about 4" wide which goes from right to left only on the HD channels - the very reason I plunked down over $1,500 for the TV! Overall I'm disappointed with my SONY HDTV.
