Pros: Smaller, thinner, lighter and better built than iPod, battery life, ATRAC3plus doubles music capacity Cons: Still requires ATRAC3 conversion
The NW-HD3 has just been announced. It is compatible with MP3 and has a beautiful updated design. Multiple colors (I love the black model) are available. This could be a winner; all that matters now is the price... Like every other digital music ...
Pros: Small size, beautiful design, completely gapless playback, great battery life, large capacity Cons: Slightly annoying background noise, no remote included, SonicStage copy-protection features irritating
Introduction I have always been in love with portable music and since my first portable cassette player I have worn out an entire selection of various Walkmans and Discmans (Discmen?). It didn't take long until I fell in love with the ...
Pros: Smallest hard drive MP3 player, beautiful, 20GB, long battery life, superb sound quality, cool Cons: Confusing user interface, annoying software, paranoid copy rights management
Finally, MP3-friendly, but still not an all-pleasant experience 4 stars In NW-HD3, Sony finally added native MP3 support to its tiny hard disk-based digital music player, so no conversion to its proprietary ATRAC3 format is necessary. This makes ...
Pros: Incredibly small, 20GB, great sound quality, nice buttons, long long battery life Cons: Confusing interface, next-to-nasty SonicStage software, paranoid copy rights management
Sony has just released the successor to this player. The new NW-HD3 can play MP3 natively without conversion. It's $70 more than the NW-HD1, which now sells for $280 on Sony's website (sonystyle.com). I recommend the new NW-HD3 over the NW-HD1 if you ...
Pros: Awesome sound quality with good headphones, great battery life, large capacity, plays mp3 natively. Cons: Sonic Stage -- enough said.
I moved up to the HD3 from the MZ-RH910 HiMD player. The HD3 blows even that away on sound quality. I'm using Sony MDR-EX51. I never even unpacked the included earbuds. It also interfaces with Sonic Stage much better and quicker than my old NetMD or ...
Pros: Great battery, small, compact and great design,Atrac3plus=more songs, connect store, equalizer. Cons: Included ear phones, no remote in US version, no mp3 support (yet).
Well its not exactly an mp3 player since sony uses there own format instead (Atrac3 or Atrac3plus). But according to a press release sony is going to start supporting mp3s. But Atrac3plus at 48kbps is a lot smaller then an mp3 (a 4 min. song is only ...
Pros: -sleek, simple, tiny
-awesome colors
-wonderful battery life
-easy navigation
-great sound
-durable Cons: -no screen color
-annoying beep--turn it off
-two USB cords
-not many accessories
I've had the pink NW HD3 for a few months now, and I love it. I bought it for $195 off ebay, brand new--a great deal! At first I was hesitant to buy it because of the complaints about its Sonicstage software, but it really isn't that bad. Some people ...
Pros: very small size, good material quality, good screen. Cons: bad design, no features, price, there is much better ones out there.
my friend just got this HD1 player from circuit city, and it was a pure disappointment. first there is no usb port on the player, since this player is thin and small. It is on the charger. which mean, you need to carry a charger with you to download and ...
Pros: -light-weight, sleek design
-easy to use
-great sond quality Cons: -csn't get back to now playing screen if you try to scroll through your music
Well, I bought my Sony NW HD-3 a few weeks ago brand new off Ebay.com and I love it. Mine is pink. I thought I'd dispell a few myths about the machine. 1. It doesn't alphabetize your music. Wrong. It alphabetizes your artists automatically. ...
Pros: Makes a good, though expensive, 18.6 GB USB hard disk.
It's not made in China. Cons: Requires awful proprietary software that may or may not run on your computer.
The NW-HD3 is Sony’s answer to Apple’s IPOD. Plug it into the USB port on your Windows XP computer and it appears as an 18.6 GB hard disk. You can use it like any external drive, for backup, and to move files between computers. Sony is also a record ...
Pros: Small and compact. The clarity is great! Rugged and the menu is good Cons: SonicStage Crashes,Converting MP3's takes to long!! Need the cradle for everything!!!
I am not going to bash the unit. What I am going to do is bash the air biscuit of an application that comes with it. I am typing this as I have had to restart the SonicStage application for the 6th time because it keeps crashing. It takes FOREVER i am ...
I purchased this player for $129 at Sears for my son. He had some difficulty with the software. But the biggest problem was that it died just a couple of weeks after the 3 month full warranty expired! After getting the runaround from Sony and Sears, Sony finally told me that it was still under parts warranty and that for $82.50 I could send it to Laredo,TX. Another Sony product that I purchased less than a year ago also does not work. I believe that Sony's quality has gone down the toilet and I would not recommend this MP3 player.
Pros: Don't know any as yet. Cons: Read the review. Nothing works.
I can't tell whether the actual player is any good because the software (SonicStage) is substandard. You can't stop it from crashing. I installed the upgrade and from there things just got worse. I'm pretty computer savvy and I can say this is one of the worst pieces of retail software I've ever encountered. If you don't believe me, check out "sonicstage error" on Google or any other search engine and witness the other unfortunate fools like me who bought this product. The Microsoft site has said something to the effect that they have tried to resolve the issue (which suggest thats its a common problem), but to no avail.
Still waiting for the damn thing to work. Needless to say, no other software can work with the product.
Another Sony Superior Product... by fs733 ,Feb 10 '05
Pros: Looks,Storage Space, Small Form Factor, Display, Battery Life Cons: ATRAC Conversion, Expensive, Ease of Use
Sony has introduced a superb MP3 player onto the market recently. The Network Walkman HD-1 offers great storage cabability and good looks while maintaining the Sony quality of build and electronic engineering.
The ATRAC conversion is still a pain, but if you plan on copying CD-ROM music throigh Media Player, there will be a low chance of conversion problems, while if you download music there is a chance, (35/65) that you will not be able to convert the files to ATRAC and therefore you will not be able to play them. If you know computers like me, however you shall be able to get through this problem using a converter, etc.
Overall I think it highly rivals the iPod and holds better ground because of its better build and higher stadards Sony products are held to. The only close rival is the iRiver H320, or H120 series, because they also have good build and have a good selection of features.
Sony HD-3 blows so does its software don't waste your time or money on one. by zoomer6186 ,May 09 '07
Pros: Slim and compact I am sorry but I can't think of 15 good words. Cons: Really the software is the worst ever. I will never buy from Sony again.
It is slim and compact. That is about it.I rate it with no stars as I paid too much for something that controls what I listen to and not the other way around. I have found that even with legit purchased music this crappy thing decides whether to play it or force you to buy from them. Wrong guys as I want to be in control not you. It will be listed on e-bay. Sonic Stage software, please, what garbage software.
The Archos Jukebox I have found to be the best. As it has no paranoid copy write software, drag and drop feature with open source software. We are back in control of what we listen to.
