Pros: Easy to use, flexible, high capacity, and lots of features Cons: Terrible manual, buttons do not light up
I have the following components in my home theatre/entertainment room: -Panasonic flat screen TV -Panasonic DVD Player -Panasonic Home Theatre Amp -Sony VCR -Harmen/Kardon CD Deck -Adcom Pre-Amp (no IR receiver) -Rotel Power Amp (no IR receiver) ...
Pros: Multi-function, controls everything well. Built well at a good price. Cons: Could be easier to program, but you learn fast!
I have owned a Sony AV-2000 for about 5 years. I reviewed that early Sony multi-function, learning remote for Epinions. I found that early model useful and powerful. I am happy to say that the Sony RM-AV3100, has improved after several generations of ...
Pros: Ability to program macros directly to component buttons Cons: Hard buttons dont light
I got this Remote Control mostly because of my wife. In our great room we have to control: 1 TV 2 DVD 1 AV 1 Cable 1 VCR 1 XBOX Lights I was successfully using Learning Remote Control that came with my AV thats because I set it up ...
Pros: Reasonable price, very capable, rename buttons, build macros, it does it all. Cons: Weak light, large, intended for a coffee table not your hand.
Back in 2004 I wrote a review on the previous versions of this remote. I once had the 2100 which I liked although it didn't have all the feature of the newer ones. I bought the 3000 which I hated and got rid of but then I found the new 3100 and all that ...
Pros: It will control any and all infrared remote controlled devices in you home. Cons: Batteries go pretty fast, and touch screen can be difficult at times.
For most people, including myself, this remote is a little overkill. But when it comes to ease of use and depth of control, this thing can't be beat. Some might say this remote is too big, but I disagree. Where other remotes might get lost between the ...
Sony Not So Remote Controller. Bad. Bad. Bad. by bobniel ,Oct 27 '05
Pros: The box looks nice (but doesn't list limitations). Cons: Bad LCD screen. Would not learn even Sony codes. No good for DISH receiver.
This was probably one of the worst purchases I have ever made. It is supposed to control all Sony components out of the box. Not true. It DOES control my Sony DVD player (NC67SP), but it DOES NOT control my VHS video tape deck (SLV-696HF), or my Sony receiver (STR-DE897) or my Sony projector TV (DPL-HS20). And most importantly it WILL NOT control my Dish satellite receiver (wrong frequency range). It refuses to learn the codes for any of these components. The manual requires an Asian engineering degree to follow -- the convoluted "English" reveals that it was not written by an educated American. The device itself is terrible. The tiny letters on the LCD screen require a magnifier and it must also be illuminated to read them, but the "light" stays on for only about 5 seconds. I find it a USELESS rip-off. Sony's Tech Support was also useless -- all they wanted to do was to re-register my components and had NO useful suggestions.
Unhappy with remote - Buyer beware by ecomparoto ,Sep 21 '05
Pros: none Cons: Does not work with DishNet Sat.Sony does not support this product. Bad display.
I was not aware that this remote does not work with the DishNet Sat. system. Sony does not note this important fact on any documentation (or BOX). I had to call them and also write Sony, but Sony did not care & will not support this product - It is really not a good product - it has a is hard to read display , but Sony's lack of support for this product is very disappointing. This remote is of no use to me since I have Dishnet Sat.
Pros: Very versatile and can adapt to many different units. Cons: Bulky, hard to read, needs cleaning frequently, screen gets dirty easily, two handed operation
I bought my remote about three years ago. We threw it out yesterday after it started going on constant send at times.
You'd better have a good sense of exploring because the manual leaves much to be desired. Granted the unit will learn from almost any other unit but the screen is not the best as far as contrast goes and makes it difficult to read if the ambient light is too strong.
Eventually it will be necessary to disassemble the unit to clean the backs of the keypads and the circuit board contacts as oil from you fingers eventually works its way down to the contact points and makes an insulator.
I would recommend that you look for another unit. Although versatile it requires two hands to operate.
