Pros: CPU speed, startup speed, speakers, bright display, solid construction, long battery life, useful wireless-g Cons: bad pixel, bad VAIO software, ATI graphics quirks, drive and USB too recessed, annoying fan
I've owned this laptop for about 8 months now, and would just like to add some review here from a long term perspective. Pluses: Cosmetically, this laptop doesn't suffer from many of the flexing/stressing plastic cases that dell and hp computers ...
Pros: Size, Quiet, Ease, Battery Life, Graphics Card, Wireless Cons: Preloaded Software, Adjusting to the Screen, Preloaded Software
I purchased this laptop from CompUSA. I have never owned a laptop before, but I needed the laptop I purchased to have certain specs. My wife and I recently rebuilt our desktop computer so we can play Sims 2. So we needed a laptop that had a graphics ...
Pros: lightweight, built in DVD burner, widescreen display, memory stick pro compatible, good wireless coverage, Cons: battery life could be better, bluetooth would be a welcome addition, atrocious tech support
I bought this notebook to replace my VX88, and i was amazed at how much has changed in the past three years. Many of sony's notebooks have been proven to be very solid and reliable, and this one is no exception. The magnesium body, which is 20-30 ...
Pros: Excellent screen, very light-weight, good performance! Cons: Sluggish hard drive, no DVD writing capabilities
I just purchased one of these for a client, after I was basically given a blank check and instructions to find him the lightest-weight, most portable laptop I could find that would run Windows XP, had built-in wireless, had a good screen display, and ...
Pros: Looks good Cons: Speed alters! hardware AND software probs, not well built, easily scratched, and MORE!
This notebook was great for the first month. Then my motherboard went bad at 2 months, and 1.5yr. My system crashed 8times and I've lost ALL of my files. I contacted other people with the same notebook, and after 1yr, MANY peoples motherboard went bad ...
Pros: Nice size, screen, ergonomics, advertised performance. Cons: Manufacturing defect, customer care policy, No
Extremely loud/hot
Expensive 2005: $2000
Update 3/7/2007: Sony returned my computer with a new motherboard, fan heat sink/spacers, and keyboard at no charge to me. It is quieter, much cooler, and did not shut down during the re-imaging of my harddrive, or during a full virus scan. This is while ...
Pros: Lots of features, easy to store. Cons: Expensive, DVD doesn't work, hot, heavy and battery life is short.
Overall, the features are excellent. I can't go into technical detail like the others who have written reviews as I don't know what most of it means. I DID have a techie friend help me pick this out. I wanted the ability to use this laptop as my ...
Pros: AWESOME screen
Small and not heavy! Cons: No latch on screen when closed
Not to fond of the touch pad buttons
I'm a graphic designer who does not like big bulky laptops. I used to own a Dell Inspiron 8500 and while it performed incredible, it was to big and heavy and o-man the keyboard stunk!
Then came the Sony VGN 360P that i just purchased. I am amazed at the compact nature of this computer yet the impressive features it has including a dedicated video GPU w/ 64 mb's of RAM. The screen is incredible! i have never seen such a beautiful screen ever on a laptop - including my old dell (which was a higher resolution, but not as sharp). Because of my profession, i need a nice screen and some serious power. This laptop gives it all in a smallpackage
Pros: light weight Cons: falling apart after only 1 year, customer service sucks
At just over 1 year old, the space bar is failing and I have to keep going over my work again to correct it. Also the cursor changes position arbitrarily from time to time.
When I go to Sony website to get repair locations, it tells me there is no such model as VGN-S360, refuses to give me information. And their website is excessively complex, including the means of sending an e-mail to technical support. At most websites, you just put in a zipcode to get a location.
When I finally get them on the phone, they ask too many questions instead of just giving me a location. Then they tell me there is no service facility near Chicago, and I have to mail it to San Diego! Never mind.I'll buy another. It won't be Sony.
