Pros: Good value for money; reproduces bass well; unobtrusive. Cons:
What to do when you buy a surround-sound speaker system, complete with subwoofer, and only after setting it up realize you bought a passive subwoofer and need an active subwoofer for your existing receiver? Of course! You go find an inexpensive ...
Pros: Good, solid bass performance from a trusted manufacturer, for a great price. Cons: None on cost/value. No auto power on/off. Audiophiles might want something pricier.
I recently purchased an Infinity PS-8 subwoofer to augment the Infinity RS-1 bookshelf speakers and amp/EQ combo I keep at my workstation. I was so elated with the performance of this subwoofer (see my Epinions review on the PS-8), I decided that I ...
Pros: Small Size
Good SPL level
Pretty Accurate Cons: 8" Driver isn't gutwreching
No Auto on/off
This sub sports an 8" subwoofer, and a 100 watts RMS built in amp. It has line level inputs, single RCA input, highcut off, and level. It is designed in a small ported enclosure that delievers tight and clear bass. I have this hooked up to my Pioneer ...
Pros: Loud without distortion, never had a problem with heat Cons: No auto on/off
Introduction I really don't have that much space in my room to accomodate a huge sub so i went shopping for 8" inch subs. I listend to 4 different ones from 3 different stores. I have to admit this one got the loudest with least distortion. ...
It completes my home system by okalvin ,Feb 21 '06
Pros: Good tight bass, small size, good price. Cons: No auto on/off
I was looking for inexpensive subwoofer. I also didn't want a bulky big box. The reviews on this subwoofer are good and the price is very attractive. It ran out at a few local stores and I got a display/open box unit. It works fine with my home system. I already have two front speakers with woofers, but this subwoofer adds another dimension and the tightness to the overall sound. It is fine for movies and music and I don't find it boomy. I don't need earthshaking, windbreaking bass. I just want a more complete sound and this subwoofer provides that at a great price. I have only turned the subwoofer volume to half and adjust the frequency response to half. I like it very much.
Huge Sound in Small Package by droppedciv ,Aug 13 '05
Pros: deep bass puts out sound like the 12" I have in my car. Cons: too much bass
I run a 5-2 system. I have a small one bedroom apartment and don't need a big 12" woofer. This little 8" beauty packs a punch. For the best sound, turn the woofer to max sound. With minimal power from you receiver, you will enjoy big sound. Great for home theatre and music. You can't go wrong with this. I went to two different Fry's both were sold out. But, I found mine at Radio Shack.

Just the bump my system needed! by pward ,Oct 13 '06
Pros: $$$, excellent bass performance, small footprint Cons: that I can't get same value/performance in a center speaker
I read the reviews, as I always do, here at epinions and amazon before buying this little subwoofer!
I just could not ignore the value + performance in one package. And with free shipping from Amazon, why not?
Took some tweaking right out of the box to get it just where I needed it! I was shocked to see how little I had to turn up the volume level to get a nice atmospheric feel to the sound. It took total 45 minutes out of box to get it where I need it. I do recommend plugging into the outlets of your receiver so you don't have to manually turn the subwoofer on and off!
I don't have to have a big-time bump that vibrates the house. I was just looking for that extra bass feel to make the digital TV shows and movies pop!
And it outright fits the bill without straining at all!
Do yourself a favor - get this before Sony reads all these great reviews and starts charging more for this gem!
Pros: Price, ease of hookup, sound. Cons: Manual on/off switch. Not a big deal though.
For under $100 wherever you buy it, this sub will add just the right amount of depth to your music, especially with bookshelf speakers. You can adjust the volume and the bass cut-off (the amount going to the other speakers) Excellent sound with movies too. I use a Sony str-de697 receiver and they work well together. Highly recommend, this is some sweet stuff!
