Pros: Very powerful, packed with software, great sound, makes DVD movies. Cons: Batteries do not last long enough when playing DVD movies.
The Sony Vaio FRV27 Notebook is by far the coolest computer I have ever owned. I enjoy my Sony Vaio Notebook so much, I went and purchased a Sony Vaio desktop to match! (the P

Pros: Nice price; great processor for the bucks; solid casing; Sony reputation. Cons: Puny hard drive, flimsy CD/DVD tray, too large to tote on a daily basis.
This is my second laptop, and admittedly, for me, coming from an older (166MHz Pentium MMX) Compaq Armada to this Sony was like going from a 1988 Honda Accord to a 2004 Nissan Maxima! A lot of the same stuff, just slicker and lots more power! The ...
Pros: Great Performance, Affordable Price, Nice Design Cons: Battery live can be short like on any laptop when doing certain things.
With laptops being the price they are today, I dont think Ill ever buy another desktop. I purchased it at a local Best Buy store for $1,499. I went there and it caught my eye. A name brand laptop with a DVD-burner for just under $1,500, how c ...
Pros: Power, graphics, configuration ease, DVD burner...has everything but cupholders!! Cons: Battery life, "tinney" sounding speakers, size/weight
I bought my Sony refurbished about a year ago from Ubid.com. For the money, this laptop has been GREAT! Like everyone else says, it does have poor battery life.....so I just bought additional batteries. But it is a perfect desktop replacement (which is what it was designed for). Is it light? No, but again, for all of the power and features, I am happy to tote it around.
I have owned many brands of laptops over the years, and Sony's are the only ones that don't give me problems. Though I am not an IT guy, I know just enough to get myself in trouble. But my Sony is bullet proof. I have upgraded the hard drive, and the DVD burner is wonderful.
Sony VAIO PCG- FRV27 PC Notebook by khking ,Nov 19 '03
Pros: Great LCD screen, USB 2.0 IS much faster Cons: Lousy battery life, (1.25 hrs...barely)
Pros: Great LCD screen and the DVD RW is a great plus over the tradtional CDRW drives. It allows you to backup your entire computer on a single DVD...impressive. My tech-support call to Sony was efficient and smooth.
Cons:
It should have a Wireless card in it, (but they are a relatively cheap add-on).
My biggest beef with the computer is the poor battery life. In three uses of the battery, at its best it lasted 1.25 hours. If you anticipate needing to use the laptop on battery power only, I would strongly encourage you to consider a laptop with a more robust battery.
I also looked closely at the new Intel Centrino mobile laptops, with built in WIFI, smaller form factor, BUT slower CPU speed.
