Pros: Solid build, small size, high quality audio playback and recording, audio upload capability Cons: USB only, audio download requires slower conversion, tiny buttons and display on unit
I am a long-time minidisc user and have already contributed several reviews of minidisc equipment to Epinions. I'll warn you now that this is a very positive review, but I think it's fair, too, since I don't think minidisc, or the MZ-NH1, is the most ...

Pros: Light, compact, long recording time, solidly built, great sound, good menu navigation. Cons: A bit pricey. Remote not well lit. ATRAC conversion slows down downloads.
What a great unit! I bought it at Minidisc Canada for $510.00 CDN. I am very happy with the MZ-NH1. I had still been using my Pioneer MJ-D707 to record disks and playing them back while commuting on my MZ-E90 (a great MD player). Being able to record 27 ...

Great Unit!!!!
by robchittum ,Dec 28 '04
Pros: small, great sound, can record in uncompressed mode for live recording Cons: discs not readily available in US currently
I just received this unit for Christmas, and I am completely thrilled with it. It is very portable, has the option of uncompressed recording, and the sound quality is excellent. I read a lot of negative comments about it on minidisc.org, but I don't really get the negative feedback. It is a great little unit, and I can say that I highly recommend it to anyone. I am using Etymotic ER4S earphones which most portable players won't power properly without an external headphone amp, but the NH1 powers them fine. If you want the option of storing thousands of songs on your player and don't want to mess with the 1 gig disks, then you may go for a hard disk player. However, if you want the ability to record uncompressed using a mic input, then this (or sony's other Hi-Md) units are the way to go. The Atrac3plus codec does a great job, and the sound is very rich. I got 10 full CD's at this high resolution onto one disk. This is enough for my needs. I am a happy customer.
