Woks well
by nnzqs ,Feb 12 '04
Pros: Price, good power. Cons: None.
I had this amp pushing a set of infinity 12s, using an xplod deck. Sounded great, though I'm a bit of a stereo rookie. Easy to install, and I didn't notice any distortion. Ran it for about 3 months, when it got stolen, and had no problems.

Great Amp For The Novice
by ardell ,Mar 09 '04
Pros: Price, quality. Cons: Gets hot, and will overheat.
Excellent ampliifer for the beginner. I purchased my Sony XM-2165 because of the amount of features it offers, and its price. I have owned mine for about 6 months. The 2165 will give you 165 watts RMS (Continuous) per channel (there are two). That equals out to 330 watts. Don't be fooled by the 1000W rating written on the amp. The only way this amp could produce 1000 watts is if lightning hit it. I was running my 2165 on three Pioneer twelve's. It sounded decent, not earth shattering bass but a little thump. One warning though, this amp gets extremely hot and will overheat in about a hour of continous use. Also be sure to get an extended warranty as you will inevitably blow this amp. In case you were wondering the impeadence on the amp with the 3-12's was 4 ohms bridged. About 4 months into using the 2165 I blew my right channel (Get A Extended Warranty, I have a five year warranty) Decent amp for the money. If you can get a MTX amp.
