Pros: Price, Heat Output, Footprint (size), One touch, Hi/Low/Thermostat, Plastic casing, 2X backup shutdown safetys Cons: Higher electric bill (and that's pushing it)
I'm normally a big believer in "You get what you pay for". That said, I received this little heater for an Chistmas present, and almost immediately returned it for a store credit towards a bigger one. I was only looking to heat a large ...
Pros: Works well, heats up a room in minutes, very inexpensive. Cons: None!
This is small and inexpensive, but boy does it do its job of warming up a room! I bought this because I was in the market a few years back when I lived in my old place to warm up the bathroom. For some reason my bathroom could hold no heat and I would be ...
Pros: Compact, many settings, not hot to touch Cons: no OFF switch, temperature gage doesn't seem accurate
My dad bought this heater for his back room because there is no central heat in that room. I saw it back there one day when it was really chilly and decided to use it for my infant daughter's room. I wasn't sure it was going to work since it was so ...
Little Holmes that Could by denandgigi ,May 12 '08
Pros: Reasonably priced
Great output
Durable Cons: Have to manually reset after power outage
We bought our first Holmes HFH416 a couple of years ago and it out-performed the best, most expensive compact heater we had. It surpassed our highest hopes both in longevity and heat output. Excellent value! The only inconvenience we had with it was that after a power outage, we had to reset it, which can be bothersome in areas with frequent winter outages.
Pros: Price, size, features, heating output Cons: A little noisy
Purchased this heater from Lowes for $15.88 on sale. Features include a small footprint, real thermostat and two distinct heat settings. While the range of automatic setting is in 5 degree increments, it does at good job of maintaining the set temperature. What amazes me is the heat output. The swirl grill resembles the Vornado and dispenses heat uniformly throughout the room. It is not the quietest heater on the market, but, you get what you pay for. Last but not least, it does come with a three year warranty.
Pros: Heats quickly, quiet, small. Cons: Not durable, thermostat not great.
My parents bought this heater for me in 2001 because I was always cold while using the computer. At first, it worked good. The main problem at first was that the thermostat would turn off when the heater got to be whatever temperature it was set to, not when the room got to be that temperature. That was easily solved by leaving it on low or hi while I was using it and just turning it off when it got warm enough.
In 2003 I started a new job, and I brought it to work with me because there is a problem with the thermostat in the office I am in, and while the rest of the building is 70 degrees, this room is 60-65 in the summer and colder in the winter. I brought it to work in November, and by the end of January it wasn't working very well. Now it no longer works at all. I think it just doesn't stand up to constant use.
In summary, it works well if you don't overuse it.
Pros: kicks out a lot of great heat, decent length power cord Cons: Hard on the power bill, but a lot of space heaters are.
It may be compact but it does kick out a lot of heat. I bought it in order to delay turning on the furnace for while. Well worth the money! It has a nice heat that kicks out in to a decently sized room.
Pros: Will not take up much room in the landfill where it is going. Cons: Was a total waste of $20.
Bought one at Lowes the other day for $20. The thermostat feature would turn on for a few seconds and then turn off on its own. The manual settings for high and low worked for a day, now in this mode will turn on for about 60 seconds and then turn off on its own. No, it is not overheating. Its just a bad product.
