Finally, decent PC speakers

by bpprice , Dec 26 '02
Pros: Easy, great sound, new low price
Cons: None
I have gone too long with lousy speakers on my computers, like much of the rest of the world. When I really want to hear music from my PCs, I either hook a laptop up to a "real" stereo, connect to my Tivoli PAL radio, or use (ugh) headphones.

Sounds good!

by hemelvin , Nov 08 '05
Pros: Good sound, solidly built, fits in a very small space.
Cons: Overpriced like all Bose speakers; no true surround sound. RCA cable is too short.
I have a very small computer desk and needed 2.0 speakers as I have no room for 5.1 surround sound setup. The Bose MediaMate speakers, which I bought at Sam's Club for about $60, sound great -- no distortion, decent sound quality, and compact enough to ...

They are back. Sounds great!

by mjking74 , Jan 28 '02
Pros: Best two piece speakers. New lowered price.
Cons: Still pricey compared to other 2 pc systems.
I was looking for a two piece system last year. I ran across the Mediamate at a friend's place. They sounded great. When I went to a Bose store, they said they discontinued them.

I just visited a Bose store recently and they are back! With...

Best computer speakers iv ever had

by ruffryder392 , Jul 19 '00
Pros: very good dont take up space
Cons: when i first got them they kept going off so i had to unplugg them and replug them in they dont do it anymore though
Now these speakers dont have very little bass but if you people would do some research before you buy speakers you would know that they are for clear rich sound and not for bass. I would rather have these than some cheap labtecs that by the way can kiss...

Very nice for the price!
by hawaiidj ,Feb 24 '04
Pros: Simple, compact, convenient, price, SOUND, Bose.
Cons: None.
I bought these to replace my bulky satellite/bass box setup. What attracted me was the simplicity of setup (no sub) and the ability to add an additional input without having to unplug anything from the back of my computer tower. Unlike the first reviewer above, I am not an audiophile - if I were, I'm sure there are better and more expensive solutions. I wouldn't have wasted my time on Bose. My needs were simple: a good sounding near-field speaker system that sounded good. Bose delivered in a big way. "Near-field" meaning you are sitting in front of your computer = speakers are close. Bose sounded great for this. If you like simple and good sound, I'd give them a try. I bought mine from a Bose store and they let you try them for 30 days to see if they work out for you.

Excellent speakers for those who prefer quality...
by jonesjw79 ,May 23 '04
Pros: Crystal-clear sound. Great stereo separation. Impressive frequency range.
Cons: Ultra-low bass (as in things you'd only hear from a subwoofer) is inaudible.
Look, it's this simple:

If you want window-shattering bass and loud, circuit-shorting wattage, these are not the computer speakers for you.

If you want crystal clear, well balanced, pleasant looking, non space-hogging, easily controlled, tasteful computer speakers, look no further.

A previous reviewer seemed to have a pre-existing bias against Bose products. He has every right to say that Bose is not God's gift to home audio (most of their products are superb but there are also inevitably some stinkers). However, these speakers are an EXCELLENT choice for anyone but the adolescent headbanger/gangster rapper who needs a 200w subwoofer so he can annoy the neighbors. These speakers use similar technology to Bose's renowned waveradio, which in itself should be a dead giveaway that these sound BEAUTIFUL!

Great value - excellent upgrade
by surfsidefl2000 ,Feb 19 '06
Pros: Small and light, full sounds spectrum, no clipping, attractive design
Cons: None
I have had these speakers now for about two months and I am very glad I bought them. I am buying another pair for my second computer. For $70 I can't imagine getting more. Sound quality is deep, clear and full. Never clips even at high computer volumes. Overall very pleasant sounding and makes sitting at the computer for hours enjoyable if you have a library of music. Does not compare to the sound of my 201s or 901s, and it shouldn't. But for what they are and the price I can't imagine better sound.

Bose -- That says it all
by rufunki ,Jan 21 '06
Pros: Sounds great, good price, bose Quality
Cons: None so far.
I got these at Sams club to replace some Z560's that I had. (Control box was going out & Logitech offers no replacement for them)

So I got these, I knew that I wouldn’t have the same bass, so I wasn't looking for the bass. But what I did want is the Sound Quality.

So far after using them for a month, all I can say is that they rock, they sound great. I notice that when I am listening to Jazz or Classical that there Strengths really shine. Having the dual inputs also helps quite a bit, I now have my computer & Pioneer Airware (xm2go) hooked into them and totally enjoy them during my hours playing WoW

The Bose "Magic" for your PC
by travisgood ,Sep 21 '03
Pros: Remarkable sound quality, remarkable sound quality, period.
Cons: None
This may come across as a bit odd but after all the accolades given above, I don't think there's much to add. The speakers are great! I honestly enjoy them so much that I want stay at my computer and work or play just to keep listening to my MP3 or streaming media. I refer to the Bose "Magic" and by that I mean when you're between two Bose speakers, you can almost believe you're hearing it live. Their company motto says a lot: Better Sound Through Research.

BOSE® COMPANION 2
by eythanrules ,Apr 12 '05
Pros: Great sound, good looking, can connect two sources
Cons: ummmm..... Expensive?
I'm writing to let everyone know that the new BOSE® COMPANION 2 are the new substitutes for the Media Mate PC Multimedia speakers. The BOSE® COMPANION 2 deliver crisp sound that can't be compared to any other brand of multimedia speakers. They are quite small like the Media Mate and the sound is excellent delivering clean sound for a small space like a small office or a bedroom. The speakers come with all the cables needed and they have dual imput and output so you can install your computer and another source. They are small and have a nice contemporary look. I mainly use them to hear MP3 of classical music but they sound great with other type of music.

I have had this speakers for almost 5 months now and I really recommend them.
