Pros: New, different toaster design; Bagel and toast settings for heating one side or both; "slide thru" drawer; no crumbs under toaster Cons: To narrow of a base making it very tip prone; one big wide slot - two big wide slots would have made it more stable and functional for family use; quite expensive
I am the owner of one of those new fancy dancy Slide Thru Toasters by West Bend. I received mine as a gift or else I would not have one in my home right now. The Slide Thru is definitely different and "high tech" looking, but it retails for...
Pros: Toasted my bread and bagels to my taste Cons: Nothing
I seem to be on a roll with various appliances that we had when living in Alaska, so I figured, I should just go with the flow. When we first moved into our apartment, one of the first things we bought was a toaster. I really didn't want to splurge on ...
Pros: This stream-lined toaster can toast one bagel side & then it slides out! Cons: Need to keep an eye on it because sometimes a thick bagel will get stuck!
This Slide-thru toaster is something I have wanted all my bagel eating years! I can finally just toast the cut side of the bagel while leaving the already browned outside alone. I have never been a lover of toaster ovens because they take too long and...
Pros: Unique "slide-thru" feature; Bread/Bagel button is useful Cons: Useless "slide-thru" feature; Overpriced; Short warranty period
The West Bend Slide-Thru (sic) Toaster (model number 6220) is a classic hunk of American engineering. What other country would produce a toaster that lets you skip the strenuous, "take the bread out of the toaster and place it on the plate"...
Unique design makes it simple & efficient! by chartchecker ,Dec 16 '03
Pros: Efficient, Simple to use, easy to clean, sturdy Cons: Only accommodates 2 slices
Bought this toaster a year ago primarily for the slide-through feature which works perfectly. I've never had a problem with any items getting stuck including wider items like my hometown New York bagels. This unit is super easy to clean by simply lifting the plastic slide and tapping - the crumbs fall right out. However, if you don't dump the crumbs and you choose to close the slide vertically for storage, the crumbs will fall through the bottom. I store mine daily & this isn't a problem. In fact, taking the toaster in and out of a cabinet daily jerks the unit around a bit, however it has stood up to the abuse. Another great feature: it gives you the option to toast one or both sides - perfect for softening bagels on their outside, yet crisping them on their inside. More important, it toasts very quickly and the controls are easy to use. The only major draw back I found was that it's only a 2 slice toaster. Couldn't they have found a way to make this a 4 slice?
