Pros: Looks very high tech and very "Nortonish" Cons: Doesn't live up to Norton standards at all!!!!!
Just when I thought it was safe to start telling people not to buy MacAfee... Norton screws up. I have been a loyal Norton customer since well... Windows 95. I've sworn by it. I've used it on all of my Macs and PC's. I've decided that there is nothing ...
Pros: The box is a bright shade of yellow. Cons: The yellow box is a subliminal 'danger' sign - for using the product.
What has happened to Norton? Seems as though they're writing their own viruses now. I have used the Norton Antivirus products for years, and as most folks agree, they used to be the best on the market. Nowdays, things have changed. The Internet ...
Pros: Great anti-virus, ad and pop-up blocker. All-in-one. Cons: Expensive.
Norton Internet Security 2005 is a very good all-in-one package. It is very easy to use and works seamlessly with your internet browsing. I particularly enjoyed the excellent antivirus and pop-up/ad blocking. Add on the freeware Spyware Blaster and ...
Pros: Adequate protection Cons: error messages, makes pc lethargic, tech support.......NIL
Norton Internet Security version 2005 has adequately protected my computer. I have not had any invasions since I purchased it in middle January. This benefit has come at a VERY high cost, however. I've been experiencing problems with error messages ...
Pros: Easily Available, Good Overall Coverage of viruses, spyware and addware, good virus definition updates Cons: Will slow your computer to a crawl. Conflicts with many programs including WindowsXP, ACT, AOL
I have used Norton for 10 years. The Internet Security Version is HORRIBLE. The updates are slow. It will slow your computer down to a crawl and it has caused mine to crash 1 or 2 times DAILY. It also conflicts with Windows XP and caused my "system ...
Pros: Whole in one - you get what you most need for virus and womb security Cons: Huge size usage when installed
I don't get why lot of people giving bad review for this software even some who said been a loyal to Norton. I am a loyal Norton user as well but not early as other as I was first learning how to do installation when I was in secondary school - about 15 ...
Pros: Can't think of a single one Cons: Worst customer service in the world
- There is absolutely no customer service. You have to pay a big amount to speak to a human being, and even then they have zero technical knowledge and don't help.
- A trial version came with my laptop when I bought it, then I bought a subscription renewal. Absolutely won't install, and then LiveChat tells me to uninstall the old one... which doesn't work
- All in all, absolute waste of money, horrible customer support, and I absolutely refuse to let any of my friends waste their money on this software. It may work good, if you can find a technician to actually help you, or if you can actually get it installed.
Pros: Because of the rebate I'm not out any cash. Cons: If it works at all it slows everything down.
Bought NIS as a package deal with Turbo tax. Got a rebate for the cost, so the total cost to me was zero and that's exactly what it's worth.
It slows the PC down to a crawl. I have a DSL line and it was slower than when I had an ISP.
One day a window popup offered a list of updates that should be downloaded for added security. After the download was complete, did the restart and then had no internet connection. For help you must go to the website. That's just great if you can't get on line. You can get help by phoneline if you don't mind paying a hefty fee. Seems like a great revenue generator for Symantic.
Could only get the internet connection back by uninstalling the Norton program. Installed it again, had freeze up issues and just plain black screen problems. An incredible negative experience.
I've been their customer for nearly three years. I'd never had a reason to ask for support.
I had that one problem, and needed help, and it wasn't there.
Sent them 2 emails (since you pay for live support) and I received an automated response saying they would get back with me within 72 hrs. That was two months ago.
Do not buy of you have to uninstall a previous version by johnshearer ,Jan 10 '06
Pros: will stop virus...if you ever get it installed! Cons: You can never get in installed...what a terrible negative experience
It is almost impossible to uninstall Norton AntiVirus properly - which is a major issues when their technical support tells you that you should upgrade to a newer version...
The utilities they have to uninstall the program don't work.
Their website has conflicting instructions on how to go about the install, uninstall process.
Their (online chat) technical support are only able to talk you thorugh the steps described in the website. They don't actually seem to have much technical capability.
Unless you want to spend the best part of three days manually altering your registry then forget it.
Apparently Norton are notorious for uninstall / install problems.
They don't seem to be doing anything about it - perhaps only loss of a few market share points will make them take action.
NIS will make your computer lethargic by jibbravo ,Jun 09 '05
Pros: It does protect your PC... (at a high price of resources) Cons: Makes computer sluggish, no support.
Norton Internet Security 2005 will completely take over your system processing time bringing your computer to its knees!!. NIS will protect your PC, but it will also convert a P4 2.66 GHz with 768MB RAM in to a lethargic computer. For NIS to run it uses more than 21 processes that take more than 40MB of your valuable system RAM, it is absurd.
Worst of all, try to access their inexistent support... you don't have the right for even one call. They only take calls from corporate customers/products.
Go for some other product, don't use this one!, You will waist the money you invested in a faster processor and extra RAM.
Pros: None, It won't install. Cons: Expensive. Bad Support. Trouble installing.
I had trouble with their install. I followed all the steps for trouble listed on their website. After doing that 3 times I emailed Symantec with a detailed description of my problem including errors and the steps I tried. They sent me a link (which was a bad link-the document no longer existed). They told me what was wrong, which I already told them. They want me to follow the steps I already completed.
Another issue. They owe me for a rebate. They claim I didn't submit the receipt. I emailed 2 or 3 times asking if I can get a replacement receipt and submit that. That started a couple months ago. I have yet to get a response back. (I emailed them with the rebate number assigned to my case.)
I installed a free year of AVG. It seems to be working great.
This software is hopeless for removing viruses, i used to check for viruses and if it ever found them it "tried" to delete them, Then it used to say that it can not be deleted and that it is going to remain on my system (that's very helpful!) so then i have to go into the logs, find the virus warning and then track down the location and then find the file and simple press "delete" that's it. It's gone, not there anymore, if i could delete it, couldn't this?
The one good thing is that it has a firewall, that slows the Internet down Soooo much and it has content blocking (which is good if you have children)
Norton System Works 2006 - Zero Customer Service by mlw5844 ,Jan 06 '06
Pros: Norton was great for years. Cons: Norton customer service cannot be contacted.
Norton was once a reputable company, but I bought System Works 2006, and the EXE file was corrupted. I have been trying to solve this problem for a month, and Norton is impossible to contact... zero customer service... masters of the run around. I am convinced there are no real people at Norton/Semantec... just a series of worthless websites, a cash register and a tape recorder. They have my money, and I have a worthless program that won't run. Norton DOES NOT CARE about their paying customers. Never again will I buy Norton!
Norton 2005 Sucks - Cannot browse the Internet by deusimperator ,Sep 29 '05
Pros: Nothing that I can think of Cons: Everything I can think of
This is probably one of the worst versions of an computer Security system out there. Sure it protects your computer... by not letting you get on the Internet.
Solution:
Uninstall Norton and put in Trend Micro's PC-cillin which is far better (ranked #1) computer security system than Norton.
