The unit has LAN connect...

The unit has LAN connect and USB master port (so you can download from it into a portable unit, w/o a computer involved.) But both are not supported by the current version of firmware. Also, turns out MP3 encoding is only at 128 kbps, which is tape/radio quality (by LAME standards,) but not full CD quality.
Tried to connect it to my laptop via USB -- what a nightmare! Never got it to work. By *far* the worst USB situation I've run into, and I've done USB stuff w/ SmartCard adapters and printers and trackballs and digital cameras; never got it to work at all, just gave up.
Tired going from CD-DA to MP3 format. Did two CD-DAs. Resulting MP3 CD was defective!! MP3 was recorder wrong!!! (Sounded like Martians chattering!) First CD had 9 tracks, 1 ~ 8 are fine, 9 is garbage, as were all tracks on second CD. I did both in the record-all-tracks mode and just let it cruise; who knows what went wrong!
