Pros: Then-cutting-edge graphics are still okay; good writing. Cons: Glacially slow pace, frustrating puzzles.
I'm not a computer geek... I just date them. But one of my gentleman callers was almost as big a fan of "The Longest Journey" as he was of me, and he insisted that I play the game and find out why. I wasn't sold, but decided to give it a try anyway, ...

Pros: Nice spin to make an adventure game modern, many characters. Cons: characters drone on, main character isn't fun to play
There's a lot to discuss in this game: good, bad and otherwise. It's a system of ups and down, in which the industry has labeled it the new era of adventure games. It definitely ushers in some new ways, but I don't see it as the new Myst or other ...

Pros: Creative, immersive worlds, deep storyline, cinematics Cons: Some of the puzzles are illogical and frustrating, long-winded dialogues
"The Longest Journey" is immensely satisfying on a variety of levels: visually, aurally and its ability to tell a most incredible tale. The writing is better than most other games that I have played; indeed, at times The Longest Journey feels more like a ...

Fantastic and unique Journey
by nemoturtle ,Aug 22 '06
Pros: Great story, good characters, great price! Cons: Older graphics, but good for their time.
This is one of the greatest adventure, role-playing games of the last century. One of the most unique, engaging and memorable games I have played. I played this years ago when it first came out with a friend of mine, but never finished the whole thing (he moved out of state), but found myself thinking about it non-stop just a few months ago (after years of not having played it). This is one of those games that sticks with you. While it is several years old (therefore the graphics are only so-so), the characters are engaging and memorable, the story is very unique and entertaining and the interface is fantastic. Easy to navigate and use, even for beginners to gaming. April Ryan is an art student who finds herself wondering what to do with her life when, one night, the universe intervenes. She finds herself on a fantastic journey through space and time, trying to restore the "balance" to the world.

The One to measure up to.
by krisgock ,Nov 12 '07
Pros: Great story, fully developed characters, good graphics, easy to play. Cons: Sometimes too wordy.
The Longest Journey is just about the best adventure game out there. The story is deeply layered and intriguing: the characters are drawn out and you get to know each and every one. Right down to the 'bad' language some of them speak! It actually does enhance the game, making it much more realistic.
This is the game that other adventure games should be trying to measure up to. The graphics are quite good, the game is easy to play, the story engrossing. It's quite different from anything else on the market. I know that the Myst series has long been the marker that other adventure games aspire to and they were wonderful games......Longest Journey is similar in that it has a detailed story and good graphics but TLJ's characters simply blow away those in the Myst series. And the story makes a whole lot more sense too.
I played this game some time ago, so I don't remember all the details of the puzzles but I know none were so frustrating that it dampened your fun in playing the game.
I hated finishing this game......it was such a good time!
