We have been using this cook top for 2 months now and we love it. Its very easy to use and the auto relight keeps it safe and simple. No more leaving it on high to start the burner. Just turn it to any setting and it clicks just long enough to light. And if you do need high, you don't have to listen to the annoying ignitor. It is a little difficult to clean around the burners, but that is a minor trade off for all the other advantages.

The buttons stick, the automatic lighting triggers unnecessarily when on low fire, and the burners occasionally have trouble lighting up.

Pros: The unit, when clean, looks really nice, and capable.
Cons: Hard to clean up around star burners, looks aren't everything.

I bought Thermador as I had an electric SS Thermador cook-top in my last house which was first rate and well laid out, as is this unit now. You can place a pot on every burner and cook with a minimum of interference, which is important to me.

What I hate is that this cook-top has the 2 extra-low burners, which cycle off and on, theoretically, to simmer at 3 different settings. In practice, they do not function as advertised. The extra low burners cycle off, and sometimes require firing as much as 30 times before relighting, a true embarrassment to me and an impediment to efficient cooking – especially for braised dishes.

I've had service out twice over the last year, each time they insist the unit is fine and offer precautions to keep breezes and airflows away from the cook-top, and of course the unit basically behaves when they are testing. I've written one last letter to Thermador; stay tuned and you might be able to find this particular unit on E-Bay if I cannot get this unit to work properly. I am ready to switch to another brand.
