Pros: Simplicity. Very good performance for its size. Solidity. Quite a unique little two-box stereo product. Cons: Hiss on FM stations is only real drawback for me. AM performance not great.
I own a Tivoli Model One (mono) radio, and was so impressed with its performance that I recently decided to buy the two speaker stereo Model Two version. Please have a read of my Model One review as well as this review if you are considering buying ...
Pros: Wonderful sound, great furniture-type finish, priced well for what it is. Small size. Cons: Not inexpensive. No provision for external AM antenna. CD accessory $$ & won't play MP3s.
Overview I fell into this radio as I was looking for something to play my Ipod Mini through, and the accessory speaker systems were all more $$ than this unit. Why not buy this and get the utility of the radio also? Besides, the Bose ...
Pros: Understated retro styling, easy to use, very good sound, expandable (sub woofer, aux in) Cons: Station drift, dial is not back-lit, only suitable for small room, only OK AM performance
You are reading this because you are looking for a high end table radio and are trying to avoid paying for a Bose Wave Radio, or don't like the boominess or "high tech" factor in the Cambridge Soundworks 730/740 series. Those were some of my motivations ...
Pros: Clean sound, portability, sensitive tuner, classic design. Cons: Are you a big Metallica/Prong/Anthrax etc. fan? This may not be the best choice.
I went to an audio store with the intent of purchasing a Bose Wave radio. The salesman (a good one, for a change) asked about my listening habits, i.e. type of music, where I planned on using it, etc, and suggested I try out the Tivoli as well. As the ...
Pros: Absolutely the best stereo sound for the money. You will smile at your radio. Cons: None that I can find, I wish they discounted it somewhere.
As a borderline audiophile, I was interested in finding a suitable radio for my office. I knew that size was a great concern, so I started with the three major gadget shops. The Sharper Image, Brookstone and Hammacher Schlemmer. The Sharper Image sold ...
Tivoli Model 2. Amazing sound by hardin ,Jan 08 '04
Pros: Sounds great, looks great, easy to operate, tuning is accurate. Cons: None really, but you can't really "crank it up".
I haven't listened to music at home for years because the boom-box (a $150 name brand Stereo/CD/Tape player) in the kitchen was so tinny. I asked for, and got, the Tivoli Model 2 for Christmas and now I've re-discovered the radio and it's on almost all the time. It sounds warm and full and just great. It's a bargain for under $200. The only issue I have is that it won't really "crank up" for ear splitting jamming. But the wonderful, clear sound at decent volumes more than makes up for my self induced hearing loss. It will put out a decent volume to the point of not being able to have a conversation and still sound great. Tuning is precise and easy. It is solidly constructed, heavy, and looks great (not like a piece of cheap plastic). I've had it a couple weeks now and I am still in awe of how great it sounds for such a small, inexpensive unit. I turn it on every chance I get.
Pros: Rich sound, price, beautiful to look at; goes with the furniture. Cons: I have not found any. Too good to be true.
I have become addicted to satellite radio (XM) and now find myself listening to radio rather than watching TV while working on the computer. This radio is so unbelievable sounding compared to any other system I own. I have radios in every room in the house. It definitely suits my music listening tastes (acoustic rock). It sits on my computer desk, along with my MYFI. What a combination! If you are looking for rich, crisp, deep sound, this is the radio to get. I highly recommend over this over the single speaker model one if you can swing the extra $60, as the separation is something to behold. The price is just right...even better than right. I always lusted after the BOSE table radios, but no longer. I can't wait to park my self at my computer while listening to this setup.
Fantastic little table radio! by bromelski ,Mar 23 '04
Pros: Great, clean and full sound! The action of the dial and quality build. Cons: Faceplate contrast is poor when trying to tune the radio station in darker conditions.
After listening and enjoying my son's Model One, (same as the Model Two, but a single mono unit), I chose the Model Two for myself. This has a great stereo separation because the two speakers can be far apart. The sound is really very pleasant and natural. Tivoli's are built very well and each unit has some heavy weight behind it.
I find myself watching much less TV now and I'm doing a lot more listening. The unit also has a fine ability to receive AM & FM signals.
I also bought the optional sub-woofer. It does not add too much to the overall experience. However, having said that, I would not want to remove the sub-woofer now that I have it. It only cost $79, so it's not too expensive.
Pros: My ears are in love Cons: The Model CD player which is optional cost 200 bucks OUCH!
Oh man this radio gives out clean rich music. I am so glad I bought this radio. I use it at work and all my co workers wants to buy it from me. Thanks Tivoli for making such a beautiful wood radio for 173 dollars after CA tax. If you are thinking of buying this stereo radio, stop thinking and buy it. YEAH!!
Pros: BEAUTIFUL, AUDIOPHILE SOUND! Cons: Feeling stupid for all the money you wasted for bigger pieces in the past!
Don't waste your money with a big component system the Tivoli Model Two (that's this one) has it all! Don't let its good looks and small size fool you - you can crank this one up! With the stereo inputs in the back - I connected it to my TV, computer and portable CD player. (All you need is a Y wire (stereo RCA 2 one eight inch plugs) If you're like me and not an expert just go to Radio Shack and they will hand you the right thing. And the best part - it will cost you less than 5 bucks.
THE SOUND IS UNREAL!!!!
This is the best bargain out there!
Audiophile sound for $170.00! Can you beat it? Everyone who comes over to my house upon listening wants one of their own.
The model one is nice, but if you like stereo sound check out the model two.
