Does just what its supposed to

by melissabear , Mar 25 '07
Pros: Toasts bread just fine for at least 4 years
Cons: The poptart setting is a scam
Say what you will about this cheapy little toaster, but when my husband and I were young and poor 5 years ago this was the only thing we could afford and its served us well. This toaster has gone with us on two cross country moves, has traveled up and ...

Total 1,000,000% Worthless Piece of Horse Garbage
by ncriggar ,Feb 16 '05
Pros: Small: Doesn't overcrowd garbage when thrown away.
Cons: Contributes to landfill overcrowding.
I was given this toaster for free. Boy did I get ripped off. The "toast" button would not stay down, and I envy the people who got one of these to last for two weeks, because mine broke on the first piece of toast. I called the friend who gave this to me to congratulate him on a prank well played.

Inexpensive, but not even worth what little I spent.
by RubySapphire ,Dec 27 '03
Pros: It's cheap. I spent a whopping $6.97 on it.
Cons: Inconsistent heating coil, difficult to get lever to stay down.
I picked this up when our toastmaster toaster oven died. You'd think I'd have learned, but I was going for cheap. Well, you get what you pay for. as they say.

To even get the bread slightly browned, you have to set the dial almost all the way to "Dark." Sometimes I have to toast the bread twice to get something more than just warm bread. Other times the same setting is too dark. It's also difficult sometimes to get the lever to stay down.

I learned my lesson: Toastmaster products lack quality. You're better off spending a bit more and getting a toaster that actually toasts without needing to be coached through the process. This thing should really be a vacuum, because it, well...you get the idea.

Don't Buy Me
by sims2196 ,Jul 16 '04
Pros: It worked for two weeks.
Cons: It is a piece of trash.
I purchased this product for my apartment and it worked fine for two weeks and then the hinge broke that holds the toast/bagels/etc in the toaster and turns the heat on. I attempted to fix the problem but the toaster was manufactured in such a poor manner that it was impossible to repair and even if I fixed the problem I probably wouldn't have been able to put it back together again. To sum things up, this toaster is a piece of trash, in fact, it is in the trash dumpster right now. If you value your money, spend it on a quality brand, not toastmaster.

Your typical wide-slot budget toaster
by lilacattak ,May 12 '05
Pros: Cheap, toasts well
Cons: Occasionally pinches toast, and I have to pull/tear the toast out
Got it for $7.99 before my 30% discount where I work, knowing full well it had been returned before me (I was the one who restocked it), but it was the only inexpensive model there, and, besides, I could return it if it truly didn't work. I looked inside, and it hadn't even been touched, from the looks of it- the twist-tie was still on the power cord, and everything was in its original wrapping.

Anyway, that was 5 months ago, and, for right now, I have not had the problem mentioned earlier with the knob not staying down. Generally, the toast toasts quickly and just how I like it.

I have only had one problem now and then: sometimes, when toasting narrower toast, the toast gets pinched in between the wall of the toaster and the wire which lays underneath the bread while toasting. I end up having to pull the toast out gently, and sometimes the toast tears at the corner.

All in all, though, since I didn't pay much at all for it, I'm satisfied with my purchase.

WORST toaster ever
by millionea ,Jan 14 '05
Pros: NOTHING
Cons: breaks w/in 2 weeks, complete piece of crap
I bought it from Target for $9.99 right after Christmas. Well, it's January 14th and the d*mn thing's broken. I should've taken my $10 dollar bill and set it on fire - accomplishes the same thing and would've saved me a trip to the store. Some piece inside broke and is now floating around inside. Whatever this was must have controlled the thing you push down to start the whole toasting process b/c now the bread won't stay down.

SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

THIS PRODUCT IS PURE CRAP.

If I wanted a piece of sh*t I could've walked around the corner to the dog park, but no I decided to pay Toastmaster $10 for a piece of sh*t that you can plug into the wall.

Do yourself a Favor and DO NOT BUY THIS TOASTER
by chuck4798 ,Jun 24 '06
Pros: Made For Pop Tarts Brand Pop Tarts!
Cons: Pop tarts get lodged at bottom of toaster!!
I purchased this toaster from Target as I figured a toaster is a toaster what could possible go wrong, well... For starters like Every review I read the toast will not "toast" properly and may need to be re-toasted to get it to where you want it, It also has a hard time staying down when you first try to toast it. Oh and the toaster that has a specific setting for Pop Tarts, yeah they are too skinny so when you put them in the end up lodged at the bottom of the toaster. and when there all nice and warm the only way to get them out is to turn the toaster upside down and mess with the toaster until they fall out, oh should I mention that they fall out with all of the previous bread crumbs making a complete mess? do yourself a favor and go to the local hardware store and spend your $10.00 on a propane torch and toast your bread that way, I am sure it will be better then using a this toaster. And if you want to complain to them, like I did their e-mail address is consumer_relations@toastmaster.com

Worst Toaster EVER!!
by ms_reality ,Jul 24 '06
Pros: Looks good in kitchen
Cons: Unevenly toasts Blows up in a year (and we don't have toast that often)
Ran out to buy a cheap toaster at Target when our old one quit. The first one of these toasters we bought had a tough time pushing the lever down. My husband thought it was me until he tried..lol. Thus, exchanged the toaster. Seems to Toast unevenly (one side better than the other)
It lasted about 1 year and burned out with a Zap on inside...gotta find a replacement but will not have the name brand "toastmaster"

You get what you pay for
by gm26 ,Aug 29 '06
Pros: Low cost Toasts bread well
Cons: Doesn't toast bagel sufficiently
I wasn't investing in the product when I spent about 10 bucks for it, although it did its job initially although after about 6 mos. to 1 year of use it just didn't produce a total toasted bagel.

It does toast bread slices fairly well and has an easily adjustable dark setting I just wouldn’t expect it to be the last toaster you buy.

Disappointed in the Toastmaster name
by cards135 ,Jan 31 '06
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Latch doesn't stay down and only toasts one side of bread at a time.
I had a Toastmaster that lasted several years without a problem but finally it died. I figured since I had such good luck, I would purchase another Toastmaster. Well let's just say they don't make toasters like they used to. I decided to purchase this particular model because it claimed to have wide slots, which it did and it was under $15.00 at Kohl's. It never worked from the start. The latch never stays down and it only toasts one side of the bread. I would have to flip the bread to toast the other side.
