Pros: Beautiful picture, nice remote control, compact, multiple input choices Cons: no color temperature control
Like many of you I needed a new TV to fit in an existing cabinet. My goal was to find the best picture in the largest size to fit in my existing space. The Toshiba 24AF42 24" flat screen model fit the requirements beautifully. It gives me a 24" screen in...
Pros: Great picture (while it lasted), sound quality, easy to navigate menu. Cons: If the TV ever needs repair, good luck! It will take a while.
I had a hard time deciding between this Toshiba and the Sony equivalent. I bought the Toshiba 24” mainly for 2 reasons. One, it was $80 cheaper and secondly I wanted to wall mount this TV and it was a bit lighter than the Sony.
Pros: Great clean picture, good resolution, great flat screen, decent sound, Colorstream support Cons: Not enough buttons on the console, volume levels between 4 and 5 are not gradual.
I got this TV about 3 years ago, and the picture is as good as when I got it. I wanted a clean, sharp picture, so it was between this and the Sony equivalent. I thought that the Sony's quality was not as good as the Toshiba, but the difference is ...
Pros: The colors were nice and the image was nice and sharp. Cons: The big problem was regulation.
When an image had large bright areas, vertical lines would become curved. One doesn't notice this all that much when watching a movie or a TV program, but it's really clear on things like still photos shown by my DVD player. And even when watching a TV...
I love this TV. I went to Best Buy looking to get the Sony KV-24FS100, but then I noticed the Toshiba sitting next to it. I was surprised that the Wega picture quality was slightly surpassed by the 24AF42, since I'd had the impression that Wega was tops. But since the Sony was actually more expensive I was happy to get the Toshiba. I bought this one for my bedroom, and it's a great choice. Love the component input from my DVD player! My only gripe is the sound volume jump. Indeed, at volume 4 the sound is too quiet, and at volume 5 the sound is too loud, at least at night when the ambient noise is nominal. I almost returned the TV because of this, but now that I see it's not unique to my unit I've decided to keep it. The pluses of the 24AF42 outshine this one drawback, if only barely.
