Great TV, Great Price, and it fits in the entertainment center

by ohiodad , Jan 13 '04
Pros: Amazing Picture, Great Price, Standard 27" size under 30" wide
Cons: Remote is small
Recently my wife and I decided that it was time to put our 9 year old Zenith to rest when we realized just how dark our TV was getting as well as that the smocks on Trading Spaces were actually green when our TV was showing them blue. A walk through an ...

Good TV, Good Value
by vpdura ,Feb 24 '04
Pros: Good picture, good price, good value
Cons: none
This TV was given to me as a gift. It is easy to set up, has a nice small remote and has a great picture. A feature I like is the multiple signal inputs: one for a DVD player, one for a VHS tape player, one for a cable box.

What a great TV!!!
by judi_e ,Oct 27 '03
Pros: Crisp, clean, bright picture, sharp edges, all around great TV.
Cons: It was too heavy for my husband to carry alone, lol.
2 days ago my 8 year old Magnavox finally gave up. I had been having trouble with an on again/off again green spot for some time, but have been dealing with it. When it really crapped out 2 days ago, I finally decided it was time to get a new one.
I had investigated Toshiba TV's in the past and read rave reviews. Unfortunately we couldn't get a flat screen, because they all had side speakers, and we weren't prepared to get a new entertainment center to fit a larger TV. So we found this one, and WOW what a great picture. We spent the whole rest of the weekend watching movies and commenting on how great the picture was. We also have a Toshiba DVD player so we are able to take advantage of the ColorStream and it's fantastic. This TV was WELL worth the money, we were shocked at the quality we got for such a relatively small price.

UPDATE: We have now had this TV for 3 years, and it's still fabulous.

Awesome little TV
by nitefall ,Mar 16 '04
Pros: Great picture, good sound, small footprint, great price
Cons: Not a single one so far
Well, after fighting with getting a less than 3 month old Panasonic replaced (see my review of the CT27L8) I decided to go with this Toshiba model based on the great reviews I had seen. Let me tell you it was a great purchase. Its size is several inches smaller all around than other 27" televisions and will fit easily even into older entertainment centers (like mine). Right out of the box and hooked up in minutes with its ample connectors this TV was obviously heads and shoulders above the one it replaced. The color took almost no tweaking to get perfect and the sound is great for such a small set. All colors are sharp, the picture is crystal clear, whites and blacks are produced cleanly (ie they don't show up as various shades of grey). The automatic sound leveling built in works well and the simulated surround sound, which is normally very shallow and tinny in these smaller sets, is great. I am VERY happy with this set and hope it proves to have good reliability!

Updated Review

Pros: Great Picture, Great Flexibility, Lots of connections for accessories.
Cons: Very little operational control on face of TV is remote fails.
I had a need to purchase another TV in July 2003. After doing research & comparing varying models, I choose to go with the Toshiba 27A33 over comparable brands. I was very impressed with the picture quality, performance, and features as compared to higher costly units. Recently the warranty had expired..and now the TV will not accept signals from the remote control. I checked and the remote is working fine. The problem appeared to be the infrared detector on front of TV. I unplugged the TV for about 30 minutes, then plugged back in & powered up. This appeared to clear problem. Don't have answer for this, but everything appears to work now. Nothing was listed in the troubleshooting guide about this particular problem.

I am currently in the markets for a 16:9 wide screen unit and will consider products from Toshiba, but plan to look for models that will allow full operations from front of TV as well as the remote control.
