Pros: True P4, Widescreen, rugged, Upgradable WiFi, HDD, DVD, MEM, Good WiFi Signal Cons: Outdated Video Card, Only 3 USB, No DVD+R burning, Overheating, no SATA, Poor Customer Service
Introduction This laptop (P15-S409) has been my primary computer system since January 2004. Prior to then, my primary computer was a desktop system. Seeing as I had no need for toshiba's software I did a complete format of the WinXP Home system ...
Pros: Huge display, Good Specs. Cons: DVD-ROM drive broke, but I got the Best Buy warranty
This is a great little machine although a little out dated in todays market of big and powerful. This is a sweet little monster though with its Pentium 4 2.8 GHz w/hyper-threading processor and a full 512 mb of ram and the GeForce Go 5200 video card. I am able to play most games and just about every other application I have ever used.
Reliable except the CD Drive by jgsscc ,Jan 01 '06
Pros: Large display screen and easy to use Cons: CD Drive broke and the touchpad edge scratches the screen.
I've had my Toshiba Satellite P15-S409 for two years and love it. The CD Drive became very temperamental after a year and a half and sometimes chooses not to work unless everything is just to it's liking. It is a very heavy machine and I would only suggest it if you plan to use it as a desktop replacement (not if you have to carry it around a lot). Also, the edge of the touch pad rubs scratches on the screen if you travel with it much. Keep the foam to protect the screen when not in use.
