Pros: Keeps the kids quiet during long road trips! Cons: Cover is a little difficult to open
This past Thanksgiving, we agreed to attempt that stress filled vacation...making an extended drive with a small child (2+ years old). Anyone who has done this knows how frustrating it can be to try and entertain a kid through hours upon hours on the ...
This product has by far, the best screen display as of this writing (12-29-03). Highest pixel count coupled with progressive scan...it cannot be beat. I've looked at all of the products from all the competition, and believe me, this unit has the best ...
Pros: Perfect screen size, great picture quality, sound is very good comparitively. Cons: Hard to open, battery's sent out are typically not working properly.
My husband and I bought this for airplane travel, and have not been disappointed. The picture quality is excellent, and the sound is very good if you are in a fairly quiet environment. It comes with two headphone jacks which you will want to take ...
Pros: Excellent picture quality, ergonomics, connectivity and battery life. Sound is good, with built-in speakers. Cons: Zoom isn't as useful as it could be. Many actions require the remote control. Expensive.
Purchased this product from B&H photo (bhphotovideo.com) for $500 for use on long trips. Also purchased extended life battery for another $100. Brought total price to about what you'd pay at Best Buy without the extra battery. Picture and sound ...

Pros: Great picture, large screen Cons: Two in a row worked less than a week before shutting down completely...coincidence? Doubtful.
I purchased this DVD player based on the great reviews and specs. We used it in the car and on vacation and loved it. Luckily, we pulled it out to use at home because we found that it no longer worked and it was still under warranty. It did not ...
An excellent choice for a portable DVD player by herrc ,Dec 31 '03
Pros: The size and clarity of the screen
The slim remote
Cons: None
The unit is slim and rugged. The picture quality is crystal clear and the sound is more than adequate. Bought one of those cassette tapes that connect into the headphone slot on the unit and plugged it into the car cassette player and am able to hear the movie on all the car's speakers.
Pros: Durability, battery length, two audio jacks Cons: Size? Doesn't come with case.
Nearly three years ago, I did extensive research before purchasing a portable dvd player, and relied on sites like this before making my decision. I feel obligated to "check back" and report that I am exceedingly happy with my purchase of the Toshiba SD-P2500. The primary feature we were looking for was a dual-audio jack, and we are now very pleased with the sound quality each viewer receives. (With our other player, we had to get a splitter, and the sound was diminished, accordingly, by half). We love the screen size, the ease of use (controls) and the amazing durability of this player...we slam that lid shut and shove it into backpacks trip after trip, and it has never failed us! Oh.....and the battery goes on and on. It will play two 90-105 minute dvd's most of the time (standard Disney kid-flicks)! It has taken us almost through 5 hour trips from LA to Detroit. Go Toshiba!
Great DVD player... Recommended! by devilrs887 ,Feb 08 '04
Pros: Connections, Picture, Sound, Size, Look Cons: Doesn't come with car adapter, Battery Life(Only can watch one movie before having to charge)
I don't have much to say about this DVD player. It has really good picture, and the sound is very sharp. The screen is about 8.9 inches which is amazing for the price. It has good external connections. You can burn family videos, and then play them on this DVD player. Toshiba made a very good product, and I recommend it.The only problem that I have with it is that it doesn't come with a car adapter, and they are like $75.00. So if your looking for an excellent DVD player this is a good one to buy.
Toshiba SDP 2500 Portable DVD is Fantastic by usarica ,Dec 05 '03
Pros: Great picture, has progressive scan, thin and light, screen size worth the money. Cons: Price, but like I said, if you want a good product it's worth it!
My husband and I love this portable DVD player. We absolutely hate flying (not from fear but due to the aggravation/discomfort) but when we had this with us on our last trip, the time between take off and landing seemed to fly. The 8.9" screen is beautiful and large enough for a group in the back of a car to watch and enjoy too. It was a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. It's very light and thin. I did a ton of research before spending nearly $500 and I'm very pleased with my purchase.
Toshiba SD-P2500 Portable DVD Player with Screen by paul327 ,Apr 30 '04
Pros: The picture quality was superb and the sound is acceptable. Cons: Stopped working after 7 months of normal use.
Stopped working after 7 months of normal use. As a whole, my family was satisfied with our purchase. The picture quality was superb and the sound is acceptable. We've used it on the road very often and twice on the plane. We were just lucky we bought it at Costco.com wherein they have a 1 year satisfaction guarantee on all the products they sell online or at their stores (except computers = 6 months only). Just went to one of their locations and returned the product hassle free! That's what I call service!!! The only catch is, return it in it's original box, it's manual, cables, and all accessories that came with it, and ofcourse the receipt (in my case, I just printed the email confirmation from Costco.com).
The Best Portable DVD Player On The Market Today! by sirhunter2010 ,Jan 07 '04
Pros: Screen, battery life, Card Reader, External Connections, media compatibility, Progressive Scan! Cons: When I find some, I'll let you know.
I won't try to "out-review" what other's have here have said about this wonderful little unit. It's simply the best and needs to be seen to be believed. The attention to detail, form and functionality that Toshiba has put into this unit is truly impressive. Well worth the investment of $799.99 CDN. If you have the means, I cannot recommend this product high enough. I don't make these bold statements lightly or without reference. This is my 6th portable player and after a string of successes and failures, I've finally found DVD joy! Not only does this nice to look at unit play Store-bought DVD's perfectly, but if you have recorded your own DVD's then just slap them into the unit and away you go! DVD-R, DVD-RW play without incident. Ignore other's who say otherwise.
Not a bad player but!!!!!! by hpdrifter ,Jan 07 '04
Pros: Nice Picture Cons: Doesn't come with Car adapter costs additional $80.00! Won't play "Burned" DVD's!
Purchased this player after hearing rave reviews. Received unit but it would only play store bought DVD's. None of my Burned DVD-r or DVD+R discs worked. A real shocker since I tested about 10 different players at two stores near me and every one of them played my DVDs. From the $129.00 cheap junk to the ones priced in this range! I am Sending this unit back! Only buy this unit if you're sure you're only going to be playing store bought discs and have no intention of playing any discs you might burn yourself! What a total waste since this is a good looking unit!
