  • I'm more than 2 Miles Away! Can you hear me?

    Oct 10, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Great range, reception, and durability.
Cons: Expensive at first - But worth it!!!

Summary: Before buying the FR-60 radio, my last "walkie talkie" broke when I was about ten years old. I left it out for the night. It was static-y. I didn't realize how far technology really has come, until I bought two of these little radios. I'm an ... read more

  • Don't buy FR60

    Jan 7, 2003 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: good audio quality
Cons: Very poor battery life, warranty bad

Summary: These radios have a very poor battery life - units start low battery beeping after 1/2 a day. My latest testing seemed to show that the radios work long after the beeping starts. Seems that the setting for what a "low battery" is too high. Talked to ... read more

  • Outstanding basic radios

    Dec 31, 2002 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Outstanding, simple to use. Easy controls with no lack of features.
    Cons: Spongy ptt button

Summary: In my opinion, what an FRS radio should be. Very simple with all necessary features so you're not reading a novel on how to use them. Although not GMRS (which you spend $75 for a license) it has all 14 channels with the 38 CTSS codes. This is the last ... read more

  • Finally a Walkie-talkie that works.

    Jul 16, 2002 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: FCC limits level playing field. All Motorolas are half watt.
Cons: Goofy looking and belt clip is flimsy. Real VOX would be nice. No weather channel.

Summary: Here goes the requisite opening paragraph: When I was a kid I had walkie-talkies that should have been returned to the manufacturer by the retailer. They had a range comparable to shouting or using cans with string tied to them. One day ... read more

  • Reviewed after 100's of hours of use...

    Dec 16, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use, and rugged.
    Cons: Battery life.

Summary: MOTOROLA TALKABOUT Model FR60 - two way radio Specifications: Up to a 2 mile range. (Depending on terrain and conditions.) 14 channels with 38 separate codes for each channel. (That means there are 532 ... read more

  • 50 Ways to Use Your Two-Way Radio

    Aug 7, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Compact, lightweight, durable, more channels and codes than we'll ever need, good battery life.
Cons: Belt clip is weak and ineffective, low-battery alert is annoying, REALLY SQUEEZE that push-to-talk button!

Summary: I'm part of an organization that hosts an annual event, and for that event we usually rented big, bulky, heavy two-way radios for the 50 people in charge to communicate with each other. That was a huge yearly expense, so a few years ago we decided to ... read more

  • Pro 2-way style & FRS price

    Jun 26, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Compact, rugged, easy to use (one-handed even), quality name, PTT in the right place.
Cons: No "roger" end of tx beep

Summary: Having used Motorola's business line of two-way radios, there are certain things I expected to find when shopping for FRS radios. Foremost, I wanted a PTT switch on the side of the radio. Motorola's more popular line of FRS (the Talkabout ... read more

  • Good, but took them back

    Jun 11, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Good sound quality . Many sub channels. Decent battery life . Takes AA battery
Cons: Antenna does not fold down. No call button

Summary: These are good FRS radios, but I took them back The Motorola FR 60 are well constructed, durable and solid FRS radios. They offer very good value for the money and should be a good choice for most people looking for a reasonably ... read more

  • Great Radio - Low Price

    Jun 10, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Rugged Construction. Double A batteries. Ease of Use.
Cons: Push to talk button does not give enough feedback.

Summary: ***Notice - I previously posted this review under the FR50 title since epinions did not have the FR60's listed. Now that the FR60's are listed I am reproducing an edited version of the original review here in the proper category. Sorry if you had to ... read more
