Pros: Flexible design, hard buttons accommodate novice users, powerful transmitters and activity based (sort of) Cons: Not truly activity based software design, steep learning curve for programming
MX-700 INTRODUCTION Universal Remote Control (URC) has a reputation for developing top of the line universal remote controls. I spent several hours combing through online reviews to learn the pros and cons of the available remotes out there prior to ...
Pros: Button layout is excellent, look/feel is very good, LCD is versatile, good quality Cons: finding IR-codes, need to buy Serial-USB adapter, software challenges (use tutorial) & time to set-up
I did quite a bit of hunting and reading about remotes, which is actually how I found Epinioins. I found the other reviews here to be among the best that I've read on universal remotes and they helped to cement my decision on the MX-700. I'll try ...
Pros: This remote is so simple that you feel like you are cheating.. Cons: Doesn't have the glitz and glamor of a Pronto, but much easier to program.
What did it take for society to realize that this remote has long been the answer to all of their coffee table clutter solutions? Sometimes the forest cannot be seen due to tree abundance. I absolutely love this remote. This unit boasts functions ...
Pros: Easy-to-use, responsive, quality construction & feel, legible display, customization, ergonomics, hard-buttons Cons: 5 character limit on LCD buttons, programming could be difficult for those not computer savvy
I recently purchased an MX-700 after spending the last 3 years with a Philips Pronto TSU2000. While the Pronto was certainly a powerful and fully-customizable remote, my affection for it faded dramatically over time. Three aspects of the Pronto really ...

Don't Bother ---- BOYCOT ANY URC PRODUCTS by glockasp ,Apr 29 '07
Pros: NONE due to URC's new poilcy on software Cons: URCs new poilcy on software
This remote is a great piece of equipment. But due to URCs policy on the programming software and IR code updates you can not get the up to date programming software and updated IR codes.
URC had made it so that only custom installers can get the IR updates. Total BS, I do not need to pay someone $60-100 an hr to program my remote for me.
I will not support URC at all and recommend that everyone BOYCOT ANY AND ALL URC PRODUCTS!!!!!!!!!
What a shame, I am so disappointed by URC and there tactics. F- for customer support and service.
