Pros: 1.2 gallon tank, easy to change filter, works efficiently on medium and high Cons: low is useless, medium and high too loud, awkward refilling, water accumulates on base
My mother always used a humidifier for me and my siblings when we were suffering from allergies or had colds so I knew I wanted one for my daughter’s nursery. I picked this one out about 4 years ago because it was affordable, got decent reviews, and ...

Pros: Portable, leaves no white dust. Inexpensive. Cons: Didn't perform as expected, noisy, blows cold air into the room.
Dry Winter Air Causes Problems During the dry winter months, I suffer with sinus problems. Lately I have also had trouble with dry itchy eyes, so we decided we needed to purchase a humidifier. Our local store had two humidifiers made by ...
Pros: Puts a lot of moisture in the air, inexpensive Cons: Very loud, mold formed in bottom on the unit
My house gets dry in the winter, and in the Boston area, winter lasts about 5 months. I bought this humidifier to keep some water in the air during the winter months when I have the heat on. THE PRODUCT This humidifier is a cool mist humidifier. ...
Pros: Inexpensive unit that provides adequate humidity in the house. Easy to maintain. Cons: Noisy at the higher speed.
I bought the VICKS V3500 Cool Mist Humidifier last year and this is the second year I’ve used. I have a digital hygrometer which I bought from Radio Shack. It tells me when the humidity gets to a low level. This year I ignored the fact that the ...
Pros: It does what it says - Thumbs up for humidity. Cons: Filters are kind of pricey. Cleaning fan blades requires some handy skill.
THE GOOD I've had this humidifier for well over a year, and plan on keeping it. It does a good job of humidifying the air. I know this, because when I don't turn it on some nights (I'm too lazy to clean it, or I just fall asleep before I set it up), ...
Pros: efficiency and ease of use Cons: mechanical quality gets poor over time
This humidifier is much better than others I have had. Pros: The large tank and it's ease of use. The tank lasts at least 24 hours and I really like being able to take the tank off to fill. That and its built in handle make for ease of use. I ...
Pros: Durable, doesn't make the room steamy or moist Cons: Noisy, even on low (unless you like white noise; then consider this a 'Pro')
We bought this model for our newborn's nursery to help with the occasional stuffy nose but we've ended up running it all of the time. In fact, our child is 15 months old and it's running right now. What we found is that the white noise this ...
Pros: Works well. Does the job. Reasonably priced. Cons: Routine maintenance and cleaning an inconvenience.
In my opinion, this is an adequate humidifier. No, it is not a "silent" machine, but it efficiently does its job. (I personally like the "white noise".)It is very reasonably priced. Major drawback that I found - difficult to maintain - the cleaning ritual must be rigourously adhered to, otherwise, the filter will get moldy. I live in So. California, where it is quite dusty. This results in a lot of particulate matter getting trapped in the filter, which, in the end, is part of what you want it to do. I find the filter-changing to be more of a nuisance than I'd like. (I have purchased these online separately from Kaz.) The design of this humidifier is a little lacking - the plastic tends to crack easily, and you have to work to get the filter to sit properly in the housing. Since this is the first humidifier I've owned, I can only state what my experience has been - it may be that all cool mist humidifiers have to be pampered.
Does the job and is fairly inexpensive by jadediva ,Jan 07 '04
Pros: Pros include easy breathing, no white dust and easy cleaning and maintenance of product. Cons: You really need to clean and empty every day to avoid mold, etc.
I disagree with the previous reviewer of this product. First, please note that it IS in fact a cool-mist humidifier which would indicate a cool mist being emitted from the product causing the air to be less dry by adding needed moisture. Also, you are not supposed to have the product sitting right under you for it to work. Being that close would of course give you the chills. A humidifier should be placed at least 2 feet away from any heat source and is not meant to blow directly at you.
Cool Mist Humidifier versus Warm Mist Humidifier:
Warm Mist Humidifier ease symptoms of respiratory discomfort such as colds and flu.
Cool Mist Humidifiers help keep the body's respiratory system working more efficiently in a dry environment.
Regarding performance - Last year I had bloody noses every day from the heat in my apartment. Ever since I purchased this product I have had easy breathing and much better sleeping at night. Humidifier also does not descend a veil of white dust all over my house which is huge plus. If you you're budget is low this is a great product for the money.
Recurring cost of filter replacement by bsarkar ,Mar 11 '05
Pros: Fairly cheap, moderate humidification, makes less noise than some other models. Cons: Maintenance and recurring cost of filter replacement.
The humidifier is cheap and effective but a lot of maintenance is needed to keep mold from growing. I frequently had trouble opening the water chamber valve - overall unwieldy. Even if I empty out the water chamber I find water at the base and the filter will surely need to be replaced within a year. I had to replace it every 4 months, that means a recurring expense of around $12/-. I have since stopped using it and I am now trying out a different one. I wouldn't have bought it if I had noticed the filter cost and known how soon I would need replacements for the filter.
1 year old and the reservoir handle fell apart. by skarn50 ,Jan 27 '09
Pros: I have had this for 1 year. It works well. Cons: The handle is not strong enough to carry the reservoir.
The motor works well but the handle is not secure enough to carry the reservoir with. I had just refilled the reservoir and was walking back into the bedroom when the handle broke off and dropped 1.2 Gallon reservoir onto the floor. It shattered and made a 1.2 gallon mess! Shouldn't a handle be able to carry the reservoir?
Pros: It looks like a humidfier. It might possibly work OK. Cons: Sounds like a jet engine... really annoying.
I guess this is what I get for letting my wife pick out a humidifier for me... I have asthma and sinus problems. I've been struggling this week and our (real) cool mist humidifier was on its last leg. I told my wife I was going to go get one and she offered to pick on up when she went to Target.
Provides comfort of cool natural moisture plus relief from cough and cold symptoms. The filter captures bacteria and minerals from the water.More at eBay
