Pros: Light, fast refresh for an LCD. Vivid, accurate colors. Simple to operate. Cons: Not as responsive as CRT's. Best only at 1280x1024. Can't disable annoying "Digital" message.
I came to the ViewSonic VP191B after years of using top CRT displays. I had been wary of buying an LCD display for several reasons. 1) I was concerned about the refresh rates and the motion blur that results from poor response times. I'm a gamer so ...

Pros: Crisp, clear READABLE text, fast response time! Cons: Cord Holders will break (flimsy)
I researched LCD monitors. My requirements were: 19" or higher, crisp, clear text, and decent graphics response time for watching movies or playing games. The 20" monitors were either too expensive, or had > 25 ms response time that this monitor ...

Great view!
by homelights ,Oct 20 '06
Pros: Bright, clear picture, small footprint. Cons: Rotation software would not work correctly.
This is my first and only LCD PC monitor I have used and I have been extremely happy...almost!
The monitor itself is lightweight and the footprint nice and small for my crowded desk.
The part that does not make me happy is the driver software for the screen rotation. I installed from the CD that came with the monitor and I kept getting errors that I had to reinstall the driver. I ended up downloading a slightly newer version from the website, but it didn't solve the nag screen.
I ended up uninstalling the software and using the monitor as is...no rotation for long documents.
It's not a show stopper but doesn't let me take advantage of the cool rotation feature.
All in all, the picture is a great quality and clear. One thing, if you don't set your resolution to 1248x1024 you get a nag screen from the monitor 'suggesting' you change it.
Very happy with this, overall.

Viewsonic's Usual Impressive Monitors!
by concordegboae ,Sep 22 '05
Pros: Clear, sharp, colorful, bright, ghost-free images. Cons: Stand is somewhat ugly, bulky and odd looking, but, get used to it.
After working with an Envision 9250 TFT-LCD 19" monitor for the past 5 weeks, I realized it was not for me and instead purchased the Viewsonic 191b, (also TFT-LCD 19") which I should have done in the first place. My old monitor was one of Viewsonic's first LCDs (15" VPA150) and was superb, and the moment I plugged in the 191b it popped right into perfect view, with little to no adjustments necessary. The images appear 99% ghost-free, are sharp, crisp and clear uniformly across the screen. Additionally, the stand is sturdy (but incredibly ugly and bulky looking), and the monitor glides smoothly upward or downward with the slightest touch of the hand (unlike the Dell monitors which appear to shoot skyward with a big bang). While I'm not a gamer, the monitor is excellent for my work which is graphics and standard word processing. The large clear screen makes it a terrific asset. I would highly recommend it.

Hard to imagine a better 19" LCD monitor
by toolpackinmama ,Sep 25 '05
Pros: Gorgeous image quality, handsome, versatile, fair price for great quality. Both types of connection. Cons: Controls on front are tiny and hard to see. They are practically invisible.
I bought the VS VP191B because it was highly recommended in a computer magazine I read. I got a very nice price online. I resisted getting a LCD monitor for a long time because the image quality wasn't there at any price, IMHO. Finally the technology has reached a point where this wonderful monitor is available and affordable.
Gosh, it has everything. It's totally adjustable, even pivots. It's fantastic for gaming. Mine is perfect: no bad pixels. It's handsome and sleek, and image quality is absolutely spectacular. Text is crisp and clean, colors are dazzling, and overall it's nice and bright. I had the brightness maxed out on my former CRT. On this one I had to tone it down quite a bit.
As with any LCD it's very lightweight and takes up little space. Uses less power than my 50lb. 19" CRT did.

ViewSonic VP191b (New) is a fabulous LCD Display.
by salguod ,May 28 '05
Pros: Beautiful resolution, 8 ms response time, 3 year warranty, excellent placement of controls Cons: None.
This is my first LCD Display and I did research for about a month before I settled on this gorgeous monitor. It has an 8 ms response time, no dead pixels on this display, and no ghosting. I have seen things on this display that I never dreamed where possible from my 19in CRT with .28 dot pitch. The display buttons are in front and it takes just a few seconds to tactile which are which function. I love this display and for the price, beats all other 19in displays on the market.
