This is my favorite appliance I own! I am a huge kitchen gadget junkie and this is the most amazing piece I have.

I make a different smoothie everyday. The best part is you do not have to chop up the fruit in tiny pieces and you do not have to worry about it chopping up the ice. This baby can handle anything you throw in its direction.

Buy a fresh pineapple and use the whole pineapple(except the skin). Throw in a whole apple, a whole pear, some grapes, a whole orange (minus the peel), a whole kiwi(minus the peel). You do not need to add any sugar. It tastes so good! My 4 little boys love it and have no idea what I sneak into it.

The things you can do with this machine are incredible. Grind grains, make hot soups, make ice cream. If you want to make a splurge and have your whole family benefit buy yourself a vitamix!!!!!!

I've owned a VitaMix 4000 machine for over 10 years with no complaints. I received this machine as a surprise Christmas present. As much as I loved my original VitaMix machine, I love this one 10 times more. My first impression was that this machine is much quieter than the original. The variable speed is also amazing. I can't get over how quickly this works. I ran to Whole Foods Market to purchase red hard wheat, brought it home, put it in the Dry Blade container and made flour and dough in less than 5 minutes. In under an hour I was eating a fresh loaf of 100% whole wheat bread. Outstanding. I'm so excited to try all the new recipes. The cost is a factor, but if you are routinely throwing out produce from your fridge, you can recoup the cost by making smoothies and soups in minutes. If you purchase smoothies on a regular basis, you can make them just as well with the VitaMix for a fraction of the cost. I highly recommend this appliance.

I have had my Vitamix for 2 years now. I had gone through several blenders prior to this one and was tired of not getting the good smooth results I was looking for. I did a fair amount of research-the price was a deterrent at first but after talking to people who had one, I decided to make the investment. I use it daily for making gravies,sauces- no more cooking or stirring over the stove and perfect every time. I also use the dry blade to grind my own wheat for my breadmaking. I make all the bread we eat and when I started doing it this way, the quality of my bread texture went way up. It was awesome! It makes awesome smoothies and wonderful soups! I love the idea that everything cooks right in the blender!!!It truly is easy with cleanup -just like advertised. This was another positive point for me!

I got this after seeing a demo at Costco. I have used it constantly ever since. I make breakfast smoothies with it and use it in conjunction with a Champion juicer. The Champion extracts juice from hard vegetables and fruits and the Vita Mix blends this juice with softer fruits and ice. These two machines will revolutionize your nutritional intake and you will really feel a major difference in your energy level as well as your mental health. My skin is smooth, blemish-free and I get comments on it all the time.

It is easy to use, very easy to clean and is hugely powerful...it crushes ice with no problem at all.

Makes great soups and salsas too.

If you use it often, this machine is worth whatever price you pay! No kidding. This is a fantastic way of substantially increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet.

I bought my Vitamix about a year ago. It is a great blender. It makes drinks as good or better than all of the smoothie and shake places (after all, most of them use the Vitamix or Champ anyway- plus you get to better control what goes into you drink). It makes ice into a heavenly smooth consistency.
My favorite soup to make is the cream of broccoli. It is very good. Over all, I love this blender. I feel it promotes healthy eating habits (or an alcohol problem)and makes eating vegetables more enjoyable. However, it does not chop/grate cheese or any sticky substances well. Well, I suppose it does chop them but most of it will stay "chopped" and stuck on and under the blade.

Please do not buy this as a juicer!
If you want your vegetables the consistency of baby food - and you want the fiber, not just the juice, then it is a good product for this. But, it is not the product for you if you want a liquid, water-like juice.

The dry container is handy but I think the average user will find they won't use it often.

Pros: No chunks, blends quickly, clean up a snap and durable.

I visited my uncle a couple of years ago and he raved about this machine (he had one he bought 20 years ago). I checked into it, but thought $450 for a new blender was way to expensive!! So I bought a couple of different blenders which wither burned out or left ice chunks in my Margaritas. So, I got one for Christmas from my husband. This machine is excellent! I never have chunks of ice in my mixed drinks. I have made several sauces, soups and dips in this thing. The uses are endless and I use this machine almost every day. Cleanup is a snap-just rinse out the blender (no taking the blades out etc). Expensive but worth it.
