Pros: Higher output than many USB adapters, well-made, easy installation of software/drivers. Cons: You MAY have to reboot or reinstall if you change USB ports...so don't.
Not really sure why another reviewer was having problems with this unit, but I have none at all. It's true that you have to reinstall or reboot if you relocate it from one USB port to another, but this is true of many USB devices (including a couple ...

Pros: Good sound, entertaining software, small size. Cons: It isn't designed to accommodate a full set of surround sound speakers.
Times have changed since a cassette player with detachable speakers and a box of tapes provided the only way to get portable music. It's hard to imagine how many boxes of music are now stored on my hard drive. You still have to get them out, and the ...

Does what it says
by mooresites ,Aug 29 '06
Pros: great size, great sound quality, easy setup Cons: No input for sound, but that's not the intent for this item
My sound on my laptop was on it's last leg (noise and distortion coming from mini jack). I had long debated getting the Audigy PCMCIA card from Sound Blaster, but finally came upon this little gem.
To put it simply, this item performs exactly as you'd hope it would. It's a straightforward install, then you simply insert the USB adapter into your laptop and viola, pristine, clear sound.
I use Etymotic ER6 in-ear headphones and am very satisfied with the sound quality. Also, the fact that it comes with a Toslink (optical digital) adapter is a very nice perk for pure digital transfers.
I'm glad I didn't fork over the $100 plus to get the Soundblaster. I am, however, without an audio input (analog or digital), but that's not what this item promotes (thus the price tag).

Good thing do come in small packages
by bizman_1 ,Apr 26 '07
Pros: Small, portable, and affordable Cons: Requires a reboot if you switch USB ports after installation.
I purchased this Micro USB audio card as a secondary sound source for both my desktop PC and laptop for use with PCDJ software. I use the internal soundcard as a monitor and the Micro as a main hooked up to amp.
I also found that this USB audio card has much better sound than both my PC and laptop's internal soundcards. Odd thing is that its powered by a C-Media chip (based on the installed drivers). I never had much confidence in C-Media products (same brand of audio chip is in my laptop and desktop), but this has totally changed my perspective about them.
Its plays loud and clear thru my headphones and stereo amp. The S/PDIF optical digital audio output is a nice feature as well if you have the equipment to take advantage of it.
I would recommend the Micro as a easy and simple replacement or upgrade audio card for your PC or laptop. It is Mac OS X compatible, although some features are not available (see manufacturer's website for details - http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/micro/whatdoineed.aspx#MacUsers).

not so good
by jeffab ,Oct 30 '06
Pros: Well, I couldn't think of any. Cons: unacceptably choppy sound. To change USB ports, you have to reboot.
I bought to have spdif output.
Both with spdif and analog, choppy sound occurs. as suggestd, it is plugged directly into USB port with nothing else major running on system, and in "no accelleration" mode.
The support site often blames Windows for its weaknesses.
I won't be buying Turtle Beach again.
