Vtech v2625 Cordless Phone........Dual Handsets for Busy Homes.

by maggsmomm Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jan 08 '05
Pros: Two handsets, small bases, features galore.
Cons: Volume & connection just plain SUCK.
Last year I went on a goose chase trying to find a moderately priced cordless phone. Our older Sony had given way to spills and thrills all over the house. It became apparent that new phone was in order after the charging mechanism gave way & my talk ...

Just Wish I Would Have Bought 2 Sets

by lors_lore , Dec 14 '04
Pros: High Quality, Inexpensive Cordless Phone Set
Cons: System is not expandable. Only supports 2 handsets. No color choice, as pictured only.
July 7, 2007 - About 2 years ago I did find this phone set again and bought it. For anyone considering this phone set, both sets are still working great. Thrilled with this purchase. December, 2004 - Six months ago, while in Staples, I picked up ...

Problems with my EV2625s

by cartan , Mar 31 '05
Pros: After all the noise problems I've had, there is nothing nice to say.
Cons: Problems with noise, reliability, noise, reliability, noise, reliability
Since a previous reviewer has done a superb job in explaining the features and functionality of this phone, I would prefer to focus on the problems that I encountered with the EV2625. I have been through many (did I say MANY) cordless phones over the ...

Vtech Phones-Stylish-Affordable-and More

by cbrosnan , Feb 28 '05
Pros: Stylish looks, price (when on sale), options, durability
Cons: Can't think of any.
My husband and I purchased the phone system, 2 phones, about 9 months ago, and we love them. The phone is very reliable with a good number of options. I will identify a few specific categories that were important to us when we decided to purchase these ...

Vtech EV2625 ... poor quality outweighs features and price

by rogerds , Nov 06 '05
Pros: Price, flexibility in location of second handset, no interference with WiFi networks
Cons: Quality, Quality, Quality. Phones failed after a year.
For the first year we were pretty pleased with the features of these phones that others have listed and felt they were a good bargain. Beginning about six months ago, though, the sound quality began to deteriorate. First static and popping, then we ...

Died at 7 months

by desumer , Sep 09 '06
Pros: Color,features; comfortable handsets.
Cons: Didn't work after 7 months.
I bought this set in Feb '05. It was my third cordless phone. My previous purchases were single-handset AT&T and a GE--both dinosaurs when compared to the V-Tech. I loved the V-Tech's silver blue and white color scheme with orange screen and the features ...

Cheaper and better than all my other phones
by pawilsnj ,Feb 12 '07
Pros: Features, convenience, call quality, NiMH batteries
Cons: None for me, but apparently some lemons are out there.
I have used a lot of cordless phones. I spent a lot to get a single handset Panasonic unit, and it has been a disappointment in every respect: design, ease of use, performance. Uniden has worked a bit better, but the interface is clunky and annoying. This Vtech unit is the cheapest I have yet tried, and the combination of features, function, performance is the best I've had. I read the other reviews and was surprised that the other owners had bad things to say. My Vtech 2625 is the best home cordless I've ever used, and if I could get this handset with a built in answering machine, I'd buy it in an instant. Give the negative experiences of others, I suppose there are quality control issues. But if the unit works, it's a terrific phone.

Static connection
by orc_maiden ,Jan 11 '06
Pros: Features look great: 50 number address book, paging, speakerphone.
Cons: Sound quality is horrible, right from the start.
This is one of several cordless phones I've tried since my 4 year old Panasonic Gigarange 2.4 GHz cordless started to lose functions (key functions like volume and button pressing).

It was cheap - I paid 99.99 at Zellers in Canada.
It took more than the recommended 12 hours to charge: more like 15 hours. And as soon as I plugged it in and dialled a number: it was the sound of static. And I was standing right beside the base.

My husband tried it and reported that he could hear stuff like himself opening the door over the phone line.

I wrapped it all back up to return before even trying any of the fancy features.

Darn Thing Crapped Out On Me
by starryknight ,Sep 25 '05
Pros: Good value for the features.
Cons: Didn't last as long as it should have.Low battery life, frequent recharging needed.
I bought this phone in May 04 on sale at Staples and it had worked fine up until a month or so ago. I started getting alot of static, crackling and popping but it was intermittent. One day it would do it, then it would be fine the next. Eventually, it was doing it all the time. I ended up having to buy another phone. This is the second cordless phone I have owned in 3 years that failed on me. The first one was a Uniden. I think cordless phones should last alot longer than that given their costs.

Broke after one year approximately
by ohsmyle ,Nov 13 '05
Pros: rechargeable batteries, nice look, dual phones, price was pretty good.
Cons: broke after a year or so, warranty needs to be longer.
I bought this phone at Target and was very impressed for the first year or so or service. Unfortunately, after the warranty expired the phone stopped working. I thought it was my Vonage Service at first, because the phone was choppy and full of static, and the callers couldn't hear me although I could hear them. I don't recommend but if you do buy make sure you keep your receipt.

Loved this Phone
by juneb123 ,Jun 29 '06
Pros: Reliable, great speakerphone feature, 2nd phone can go in room that doesn't have a phonejack
Cons: built in answering machine would be nice
I got these phones 2 years ago and they still work like they did on Day 1. I thought they were a great value and I love the speakerphone-in-the-handset feature. If I need to put the phone down, I can turn on this function and still talk. And best of all, the person on the other end never even notices.

Great phone
by hutchie ,Mar 10 '07
Pros: small base, 2 handsets, shared call list and phonebook
Cons: ringer volume, handset limit
Have had this phone for over a year, great value for the cost (paid about $110). The features I like best are the shared phonebook and missed call list.

The comfort of the handset has been good for both small and large hands, and not too heavy or light and sturdy enough to withstand quite a few drops to the floor.

One feature I'd like to see is the ability to add handsets, as adding a third of fourth extension station would be ideal. Battery life even after a year hasn't been a problem. The display is clear, multi-lined display for call display or voice mail notice is great.

I'd buy this again if I needed another two-phone system.

Short Battery Life and more problems - not recommended
by abotnick ,Jul 06 '05
Pros: Good price and design of buttons, screen and backlight, speakerphone.
Cons: Poor battery life, bad battery charging system, dialer unreliable.
I'm not happy with this phone. The worst problem is that the batteries are lithium yet they don't last long between recharges after a few months. I sent my phone back about this and had it replaced but the second phone has the same problem.

The second problem is that the phone sometimes doesn't transmit properly and you have to redial to complete a call.

The battery charger is really stupid as well. I have a $15 Rayovac charger that knows when to turn off yet the charger for this $50 Vtech doesn't. That is unacceptable.

Overall, the battery life is the killer and I can't recommend this phone. There is no reason why a lithium battery should last only six months.

Vtech has horrible customer support that seems to be based in India and wasn't very helpful. They even made me pay to ship the phone back when it was defective and under warranty.

poor sound quality
by sobdrzalek ,Jun 09 '05
Pros: dual hand-sets, hand-set speaker phone
Cons: poor sound-quality, short battery life
This phone is inexpensive, given the features: dual hand-sets and hand-set speaker phone. However, I really would not recommend it, given the problems: the sound quality is poor, with frequent echoing and hissing noises, and the battery life is short.
